To ferric or not.....

Hi folks,

What do you think looks best with Alpine White - Ferric grey or standard silver?

Alloys? I guess the Ferric Grey would look quite smart. Depends on the alloy. You getting the standard M Sport alloy? (which was 386M but I see is now 461M on the new LCI M Sports)

I like black wheels as silver is so common, though you will need a black grill to make the contrast work other wise get Ferric Grey.

Exclamation

I would choose the lighter/brighter for the white colour-wise. Yet, mind the specification! They say (in the UK configurator): "18" M Double-spoke style 461 M with mixed tyres" and "18" M Double-spoke style 461 M in Ferric Grey" concealing the tyre details.

I do favour my mixed tyre summer set over the square (OEM) winter set both looks and handling wise: I experience some understeering with the latter, not with the former (although the season might matter, of course). "Choose wisely!".

Normally it is the other way around, that wider rear tyres cause more understeer. The demo car certainly had more understeer than my square setup.

Arghh. Very difficult decision. All the pics of the white LCI's appear to be in Ferric and they look good.

I'm generally not a fan of silver on white so will look at a black grill too. Hate black wheels though.

On the contrary. In England every one and their dog has black wheels. I'm quite a fan of the Ferric grey. When I ordered my VO car I didn't spec them as the pic on the configurator didn't look any different. Having seen pics since I kind of wish I went for them. Not disappointed with what I have coming but yeah, 20/20 hindsight and all that.

I certainly noticed that when I tracked 19x8.5 F 19x10 R...

White + ferric = win.

Ferric grey wheels look good on a F21.
I would add some body highlights in carbon fibre (P style front lip, rear roof spoiler and mirror caps.
A custom made vinyl Ferric grey decal along the side sill (same as the M Performance) would look awesome.

Garage List
My Cousin has just bought one with Ferric, I personally think they look great with the white but do what you honestly feel you want to. (Personally I'd go with the Ferric) I hope that helps you with making a decision.

My AW M135i has ferric grey (obviously) - I think silver looks better!
