Is it possible to fit a new steering wheel and make the paddle shifters work?

Hi guys, I have a BMW 118i, and im thinking of buying a new steering wheel, m performance or the new steering wheel of a M235, mine doesn't have paddle shifters, if i get a new one with paddle shifters, Is it possible to use them?

It is really annoying to downshit or upshift when you're going really fast.

Thanks

YES. You can also retrofit Paddle shifts using your current wheel. I did it. Had some help though. They did cut wholes using a cutter on the back side. Needs coding. Works great.

Thanks for your answer, dizx. Do you have instructions or a post where I can find this information?

That was an amazingly detailed walkthrouh. Did look much more complicated than when I saw the guys from elebest do it.
