I have ordered an M235i but have to wait till July for delivery so I went out on Saturday and purchased a 2013 125i M Sport with 13,000Km on the clock.

Just wanted to get some reassurance that this F20 is a good model. Are their any known issues with this model that I should be made aware of
Any info would be much appreciated and thanks in advance

I bought mine on april 2012 (basicline, manual transmission, Welt delivery in Munich) and now it is almost 44000 kms. So far so good. The N20 engine is so brillant ! I didn't face any issue. I have just ordered a new 125i (facelifted, Urbanline), in order to get auto transmission, selectdrive, M-brakes and ACC plus. The delivery is planned for mid-june here in France. I didin't take the M135i because of mpg's, the general look and taxes. 125i is just enough i.e. the car is light and very responsive.

Had my 6-speed manual since October 2013. I've put 25,000kms and it has been faultless.

Just a shame BMW Australia decided to pull the M performance pack upgrade which would have given figures of 180kw + 350nm .

Only issue I had was with those stupid standard run flat tyres. I've put Michelin Piliot Supersports on it now and it's much better.

You'll definitely enjoy the car.

Thanks for your input Attuale, much appreciated. Totally agree with the run flats. When my current tyres are due for a change I wont be getting run flats, just 4 good performance tyres and a can of Tyre Weld. Can anyone recommend a good emergency tyre weld product that inflates tyres as well?

Why don't you like the M Sport model?

OP, are you going to keep the 125i near the new M235i?

As a 125i owner, I'm super happy with my car. Given my limited budget, optioning the M Sport trim would have meant choosing the smaller 118i engine, or giving up on other options like adaptive dampers and premium sound. In short, I chose the more powerful car over a more powerful road presence.

One thing I've never quite understood with the BMW options list is the choice of springs and dampers and how they interact. Is there only one "version" of the adaptive dampers, or would the adaptive dampers have come with stiffer springs if I chose the Sport or M Sport lines?

I will say that I think the suspension on my car is great as it is. When it is serviced, the dealer's courtesy car is a 116i Sport, which feels harsh and jittery by comparison.

In the parts catalog, the adaptive suspension is called adaptive M suspension, so it is probably the same with or without M Sport trim. If you have the standard suspension, you have different dampers up front if you have an automatic gearbox. If you have adaptive M suspension, you have a thinner rear swaybar.

I have the non adaptive M suspension. When I got the car, I thought it was perfect, but now that the dampers are run in (30000+ km), I find it slightly too soft for my liking.

I did that choice (125i, Urban) beacuse:

1. I am 48, may be that's why I don't really like the agressive look of the M sport package/M135i

2. The extra tax for the M135i is around 3600 euros. For the 125i auto it is 900 euros. One has to add the VAT of course.

3. For the insurance, it is even worst.

4. The M135i can not have the 5DF (ACC plus) option. I don't understand why ?

5. The M135i can not have the tow bar option (S235), may be because of a conflict with the rear exhaust system. I need it because of my bicycles transport system (Thule).

6. I believe that the combination of the 125i engine, the adaptive dampers, the M brakes and the 2VL options will result in a very sporty but discrete car.

I am very happy with my 125i M Sport. It is a fantastic rear wheel plaything
The N20 engine is married up to the 8 speed (paddles) = FUN
If you have done any mods on yours post a pic on "Individual look'' thread so we can all see it

The adaptive damper BMW cars I have driven over the past few weeks have been too smooth riding for me which the 1 series sports suspension is not and I enjoy more being a more rough sporty feel than the adaptive sports suspension.
