Mine's doing between 10-11 km/l on average. So roughly 450 to 500 on a tank.

I do drive the car quite hard, and on the highway I usually cruise with 150 km/h and around that speed the efficiency really drops a lot.

But I'm not impressed either, it's pretty much the same as my Golf V GTI, and that engine is much older.

Ive been driving the car fairly gently :/ maybe its just that its the first tank and the engine is running itself in... 450- 500 isnt to bad, I got about 400km out of my mini cooper S, I guess powerful cars use more fuel :/

You would. Driving to work on the freeway got my overall consumption down to under 8l/100km, but one frisky drive around town took it back up over 8. My first two tanks were both well over 10l/100km possibly even around 12

So far my most economical trip to work was 6.9l/100km consumption so there is hope if you can control the right foot

About 500 km on average for me. If I drive gently in Eco mode and 120kph max on highway then I can reach 600km...

Hey Michael,

It’s already a mix of city and highway driving, I believe if It would be only highway I should reach over 600.

But I’m really surprised with the millage you have made on your first tank, are you running your car in?

Oh no, that fuel consumption doesn’t sound good. Or maybe your just driving too fast?
Its wired that your dealer told you that, I have read that in a user manual before my pick up.
I try to obey my running in process, I reached 5000rpms like twice, and usually I keep it up to 4000rpms. Driving in this way gets me 9l/100km in the city and 6-7l/km on the highway, usually in comfort mode.

Maybe i am driving too fast? been in eco mode most of the time, maybe car still needs to run for abit.. I do like my speed though, lets see if I can cut that down

My 125i has 4000kms on it now
The fuel consumption has improved since I first got it
The question is a bit like 'how long is a piece of string'
It will vary depending on the driver, how its driven and the road conditions.
If I drove it like a 'granny' and had it in 'eco' mode you could expect to get over the 500km out of a tank (6lts per 100km). It only has a small tank.
Let's face it, you bought a 125i, it is a pocket rocket, and not having fun in it would not be doing it justice. Drive it and get the 'sheer driving pleasure' out of it

It was rather cold the first miles here in Norway, and the fist two tank's was 9,5l/100km. Now it's down to 9,2l/100km. All is a mix with short drives and some longer. Car is at just 1500km, and all on winter tires. I hope it will go down some more with more miles.

And I look farward to getting summer tires on in the spring. The car is a greate drive!

On the long trip, was there 300kms of down hill involved!!!!!!!!
What mode was it in?

The best I have got was around 540km from a full tank,
and that was using the eco mode as much as possible during the run in period.
I decided to just have fun instead.
Love the 'Sport' mode, love the 125i Mr. Hyde side (Dr Jekyll = eco)

have you tried driving the car economically? on the highway i tried to get it as low as possible and it did 4.8l/100km. So yeah, you really can get it very low if you try. avg over 7500km my car now is on 9.2l/100km.

'So have I tried driving the car economically',
At first 'Yes', then I got to understand the car, now the answer is 'NO',
the 600+km to a tank does not concern me that much.

Each to their own, if 'economical' was the goal, I would have bought a 116d M Sport. It has the same look with economy.

The 125i M Sport 'pocket rocket' was designed for driving, so I enjoy the full driving experience this version has to offer me.

Best tank so far, started with an excessive amount of driving in Ecopro mode before deciding that it just wasn't worth it and sticking to flipping between Sport and Comfort modes instead.

Overall economy was around 91/100km. Maybe I need to stop volunteering to do the lunch time shopping run at work.

Anyway as AusF20 pointed out this car isn't about economy but rather the experience, which just gets better and better each day.

Garage List
my average reads 38.2mpg

a full tank, which costs ~£65 to fill, will give me around 420 miles

Gotta love UK high prices.
