New 125d M Sport

Hi Guys, I have been away from the BMW marquee for a while but back now with a 2012/62 125d M Sport which is to be delivered this monday.

Spec:

Model Z1BG F20 125d M Sport 5-door Sports Hatch N47
Colour 300 Alpine White Non-Metallic
Upholstery HAAT Anthracite Hexagon cloth/Alcantara upholstery
Option 2NH M Sport braking system
Option 2TB Sport automatic transmission
Option 4AD Brushed Aluminium Trim
Option 4DL High-gloss Black interior trim finisher
Option 521 Rain sensor with auto. Headlight activate
Option 654 DAB digital radio
Package Z0A Driver comfort package
Package Z0B Interior comfort package
Pack Alt 508 Park Distance Control (PDC). Front and rear

Been speaking to BMW to get a price on an Alpine upgrade but was disappointed to her it was not available for my car. Is this true? Can I not add that to my car?

Pics to follow on moday.

Thanks for the feedback in advance.

If it's got around 10k miles or more on it do listen very very carefully to the engine as it warms up, keep it running and listen at the front and side for timing chain noise.

At the moment if it's got it, BMW will probably tell you it's normal as you are in the UK, all we can hope for is BMW UK getting an updated PUMA that will allow them to replace the guides and tensioners with non rattly parts.

Good choice on the auto though, avoided the CDV irritation with that.

Nice spec, looking forward to the pics.

There are quite a few but it's the weekend they will be out driving or washing the cars but I'm sure they will drop by at some point.

I think there may be more over at:-

http://www.babybmw.net/index.php

Ime you can't have too many sources of info on a new car.

Another UK owner here. Even on the other forum there aren't that many of us. You'll probably never ever see another 125d on the road either. In 8 months of driving the length and breadth of the UK i've not noticed a single one.

It's a good car. Fast enough 90% of the time and the fuel economy is way better than I ever imagined it would be. Creeping up on 8k miles in mine and no chain rattle. I also have no issue with the CDV.

Thanks guys. The car has only done 60miles so taking it easy during the first 1k miles then will really get to feel what it's like.

Looking at the following upgrades:

M Sport black kidney grills
Painted gloss black mirror covers
Smoke tint – has anyone had this done? Is it straight forward? Heard you get a silver lining on the edge where the glass has the black spots?
M Sport - Black chrome exhaust tips

any other recomended upgrades?

I'm getting mine retro fitted this Saturday. I've used the company before and they made a very tidy job. You do get a little bit of Ghosting where the tint covers the matrix. But I can live with that as it's half what BMW wanted.

Good price mate, show us the detailed pics and let me know where this fitter is as I was going to get the mesh screens for the sun prot look. But BMW want something stupid like £100 for them.

Congrats from another UK 125d owner! It's a great engine in a great car. Enjoy! I'm at over 12k miles with no engine issues whatsoever

I'll throw some photos up when it's done. The Guy is a mobile fitter. But insists on a garage (covered area to work in)

I would go for the M Performance carbon mirror covers but can justify the price. Also it's probably too bling and would attract the wrong type of attention to the car.

agreed!!

car looks ace BTW and very similar to what mine should look like when it arrives on Wednesday!! LOL!

EDIT: there is an Alpine upgrade kit listed on RealOEM:

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...73&hg=65&fg=95

You're best checking with the parts department that it is compatible with your car before ordering and if you need any additional parts.

I'd probably contact BMW UK and ask? - it IS listed as being compatible with the F20 though - so not sure what to make of it either!! LOL!..

EDIT: i did a quick cross reference on the part number and it only appears to be for F20's.. doesn't bring up any other models. It's also listed an EBA reference of: EBA 2230425 (if you or anyone you know has access to BMW ASAP - including your local parts department - then get them to pull of the install instructions and it should be clear from that whether it is suitable or intended for the F20).
