BMW 116i Fuel Pump Recall

Hi Fellow Bimmerpost members,
Couple of days ago I was driving along with my lights on and realised that the buttons on the steering wheel are not lit up as they should normally.
After I turned the wheel the came back,
As my service was due at 20,000km and I'm at 17,000km I decided to the service and tell my SA about the problem.
As I got my 116 back he said that the buttons are faulty and the will be replaced under warranty.
He ordered them for me.
What surprised me is that he said that they had to change my fuel pump as they recall all 116 to replace it.
He didn't tell me what could happen if it wasn't replaced is because he didn't know.

Did anyone else encounter the problem with the steering wheel buttons??

Did anyone have they're Fuel pump replaced ?

Hi,

Do you know the production interval that recall covers?

Mine is a 01-2013 build. Called the dealer, do not have a recall for the car.

I have a 2013 116.

I had to have my fuel pump replaced. Basically I was driving normally, the engine cut out and would not restart. BMW collected the car and replaced the pump in a day or two, but I did not hear any mention of a recall. Perhaps this was pre-recall and the issue has become more apparent as the cars have aged.

Nice to see you getting yours replaced before any experiencing any issues.

Are we talking about the supply pump in the fuel tank or the high pressure pump here?

Looks like BMW changed something about this fuel pump twice in 2014, so it makes sense that there have been issues.

http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...71&hg=16&fg=15

The original part is used on several cars:
F20 114i 5 doors, Europe
F20 116i 5 doors, Europe
F20 118i 5 doors, Europe
F21 114i 3 doors, Europe
F21 116i 3 doors, Europe
F21 118i 3 doors, Europe
F30 316i Sedan, Europe
F30 320i ed Sedan, Europe
F31 316i Touring, Europe

Edit: Maybe the recall is only for cars with fuel filter outside the tank, option S1AKA?
