I picked up my 118i a couple of weeks ago, and so far I've really been enjoying it. However, I've also been having a slightly unusual problem.

I ordered the car with the reversing camera, and when I engage Reverse (or activate the camera manually), the image appears on the central screen.
However, at the same time, "Rear view camera failure" appears on the dashboard (confusing as I can see the camera working fine).
When I go to the Check Control screen using the iDrive, the screen says 'no faults', and the dashboard message disappears.

The dealership suggests that it's some sort of programming fault, however the problem has been intermittent- it stopped the day before I was going to take the car in, and has started again the day after.

Any suggestions as to what could be wrong are appreciated.

I'd suggest you capture the image, and ask the dealership to reinstall the software covering this application.

Thanks- I sent a couple of pictures to the dealership, and I'm bringing the car in for them to reprogram in a few weeks.
