So that leaves the 8er which according to naming tradition will likely be an oil tanker with a vibrating chaise longue and a big screen TV in it but only 2 doors |

Maybe it will grow on me when the camo comes off, but am I the only one that doesn't like it? I owned a 6 convertible and as ugly as the convertible top was on it, I think it looks better than the rear of this one....time will tell however.

Is this a trailer hitch mount? No 6-series (maybe except for the e24) has been delivered with a factory mount trailer hitch as far as I know.

What about the rumors about no more 5GT, but a new 6GT (no coupe/conv) and new 8 series coupe in stead? Meaning this is the new 8 series.

It looks like the goal of this car is to replace the F13 as it currently is, a 4 seater 'personal luxury coupe' or GT. As long as it loses 100kg or more compared to the current car it should be reviewed positively and the render provided above looks amazing too.
I'm only hoping that the weight bias doesn't get more front heavy, the main issue with the M6 is it's 52.5% weight on the front as the front tyres are simply overloaded and the rears don't have enough weight percentage on them to allow for awesome grip. Look at the F12, AMG GT, 612 Scag and FF (admittedly this is kind of 4wd) they are all 52-55% weight at the back and even though some of them are heavy, everyone receives them quite well. A transaxle would be too much to ask for though as it would require substantial engineering and remove a lot of the shared engineering that this car will have from the 7 and 5. But please BMW, you need to work on weight distribution for fast coupes |

Im excited to see something different from BMW, lets see how it turns out. But id like to know where they are aiming at with this. I while back scott said that the new 6er would resemble the VFL concept, and posted this pic. Bro if it turns out like that. Win in my book.

Scott, when will we start seeing prototypes for the 8 series? I'm genuinely interested in that car. Any idea about which engines will be available with the car?

That C-pillar is interesting in shape. Under the camo there is a riff on the Rolls-Royce Wraith.
It most likely doesn't in the metal but covered up it hints at it. Aesthetically it will be interesting. |

It resembles the sketch quite a lot and it has a liftback/Wraith feel at the back which is pretty good. In no way this will be in 911 territory however, still a large luxury GT, hopefully lighter, sportier, more agile but essentially still a large luxury GT. While I could be wrong, the closer car to this might be the Mercedes GT but still the 6er has a clear coupe/four seat profile.
And we haven't even seen the new 8er which I hope together with the 9er will elevate levels of luxury, refinement and tech way above the competion. Pretty exciting new offerings from BMW in my opinion. Just make sure you keep the 6er GC! |

So the 6er will go against the MB SL and Lexus LC?
8er will go against S-Class and Audi A9? Are they moving the Z5 up to be 911/Ftype competitor or keeping it Boxter/SLC/TTRS competition?

I see nothing terribly interesting so far either. I've never been completely sold on the idea of big 2 doors. The lines never seem to work quite right. The current Grand Coupe 4 door visually destroys the 2 door..... and add me to the list that sees a lot of Mustang here too.

6 or 8 or whatever, what i'm seeing is a very sleek and elegant coupe.
Very stylish start, and something high end imo. Could be a nice move from BMW, should be very intresting!
