M140i

Hi guys, I finally decided to ditch the Renault RS range after 10 years and treat myself to a sporty BMW. I love the car, but it has recently developed a strange clunking noise at only 1500 miles on the clock (sounds like metal hitting metal). Took it to BMW Wolverhampton, who said it's the breaks still wearing in. Now at 2k and the noise is still there. It only happens occasionally when reversing/moving forward and tapping the breaks at sub 5mph. Any ideas?

If the dealership says its fine i would not worry about it ... If this keeps happening for another 1000 miles, take it again

Congrats on the M140, awesome car

I also have a M140i that has 1600miles, and this week has developed a metallic click/clunk when reversing or moving forwards at low speeds. It will click once only in each direction when applying the brakes. Seems like something is shifting around that wasn't before. Did you have any solution to your issue?
Also I have the rough idling symptoms that so many speak about in posts on the internet.
Going to call my dealer in the next couple of days about these issues, but I was hoping to see what you had found out first. Thanks

It actually might not be an issue, I've had performance cars that click when turning / reversing at low speeds (I know it happens on the Alfa Giulia / 4C). It's generally due to the setup of the suspension geometry / wide tires. It might of been a little too tight for you to notice initially..

Although I would of though the mechanics at your dealer would of heard of it.

As for rough idling, well that is an issue and needs sorting out with your dealers.

Mee too. Mine has 7000km, and since three weeks, it has developed a plastic/metallic "click" that comes out from the left side of the trunk window area. I've already dismounted all the plastics of the trunk, but even without them, the click is there when running. Everyhting seems to be accurately refined under the plastics. Maybe is the torsion? It's driving me crazy because apart this little issue, mine is a wonderful car.

Check that there isn't something caught against the brake disc.

Another BMW owner I know was advised to make 5 consecutive emergency stops in a row - the problem went away after 2 or 3. Can't hurt to try.
