AC Schnitzer,
1) What happens if I put gasoline 91 RON?
I'll only lose performance or shall I have problems?
2) How much is the upgrade to the 116?
3) Why upgrade to 116 you get 204hp and torque of 29 and other customizations get 162hp and torque of 26.5?

Dear Schnitzer, I am going to buy the 116i automatic with the 136hp but I am thinking to tune her with your kit. Could you please tell me which will be the new specs? 0-100, max speed etc

Thank you

You must use 98 octane and above with this upgrade.

2) How much is the upgrade to the 116?
In the UK it is £1966.39 including VAT.

Our upgrade is 200hp, not 204. I can't speak for any other tuning companies products. Perhaps you should ask them?

A lot of helpful answers of AC Schnitzer.

Could somebody share your updated chip tuning experiences?

I add some of my findings here hoping helps others.

I have been searching extensively and post threads here as well and read many others. Here is my findings :

While Racechip and SpeedBuster provide a relatively good products and they do add the boost, the main issue is the lack of enough integration with various sensors and the ECU. Those chips utilise one or two sensors for delta information and let the ECU to manage the rest. This leads to some complications which can result in excessive wear due to linear fuel mixture and high exhaust temperature.

ACS and Hartge utilise various sensors so the overall control in boost is better and prevents long term damage. And they only become active when engine reaches operating temperature.

Other advantage of above brands is the relatively evenly spread power increase across the rev.
While the others have a more definite peak then they drop .

ACS seems to keep the power and torque increase to high revs (around 5900).

The other aspect is the warranty provided. Racechip does not provide any warranty if there is a damage caused by their device to the engine.

The price is important and I have struggled to justify paying almost double the price for ACS but long term I think it's the best choice.

Just consider at what cost you getting the extra power? And what consequences to expect after couple of years.

Thanks

I agree here with Bennzwel as I have the racechip installed for almost 3 weeks now.

In the past two weeks I keep the unit value at lowest settings which should provide me with between 18%-20% of increased performance per manifacture and it did and I think I even got even more hp/tq overall increase... (Just per personal experience).

It is true that ACS/Hartage offers overall better boost control as I noticed that boost comes too earl and bit too strong on WOT and when car is in second gear and below 2k RPM.

Nothing to much dangerous I'd say as turbine and engine should be capable to handle that load per experience.
While in the past few days I decided to give it a try and I have increased the Racechip settings from default to D2C switch with expected performance increase per manufacture to up to 22% - 25%.

Now if feel that boost pull below 2k RPM/2nd or even 3rd gear is very strong when you put the throttle over 60% which I didn't like it that much, but when you past the initial boost point the car simple flies very strong up to 5.5k.

In this situation there are two ways to keep your engine safe and use this power wisely by either Revving over 3k up to 4k in first gear then go wot in second as the turbine will be already moving. Or you have to be bit gentle on throttle aroun 1.8 -2.5k rpm range in 2nd and 3rd gear. Sudden boost push can't be felt that greatly from 4th gear.

Well, yes there is one more actually keep your car in comfort mode, and switch to sport when you're in higher gears, 4-5-6 and use it as you please.

I'd personally go with ACS if I planned to keep my car over 5+ years but, as I hope that I might switch my car in the next 2-3 years range. I thought it would be better to save the difference for my next car.

Good luck with whatever you guys pick!

May this powerbox ( and also the brand ), be reliable and harmless as reputable tuners' power boxes such as Hartge,Hamann,AC Schnitzer or Kelleners ?
Has anyone tried this product before?
To be honest,i am very decesive about power upgrading of 116i,at least to 118i limits..
Thanks for your valuable comments..
I am currently using the racechip in my f20 125 and I am quite pleased with the results. The car pulls harder throughout the rev range and latest dyno rated max power at 177wkw. Been using it for the past 4 months without issues.

Can't remember as I haven't changed it in a while. But it's two dials up from the default position.
