The only kind of anti-lag devices I'm familiar with are things like a stutter box combined with an auto tranny and the right torque converter. I can't see that making it in to a production car. You notice lag the most in day-to-day driving where you're not interested in launching, you just want the car to pull away smoothly, but authoritatively, in traffic.

I'm probably ignorant to many other anti-lag devices though. Can you share any details on what type you're referring to?

Honestly, even mentioning the M 135 in the same sentence as a Golf R is an insult to anyone's intelligence.

The Golf R is a complete POS. FWD based, still largely FWD even in "R" spec (hello Haldex POS differential)...

Is xDrive not available on the M135 in the Australian market? It seems odd to compare the RWD version of the car to three AWD cars.

I don't know things in detail I am afraid. However they have this secondary motor (albeit a small one) attached to the turbo, so when there is not enough waste gas to spin it, the motor does the job. I found all this on YouTube by the way but forgot where the link. You are correct not expecting see any of these devices making it into the production car. In race situation of course the professional driver switch the motor on and off, but in daily situation driven by the masses I think it is a very different proposal. Sorry I cannot be more helpful.

No, at present no X-drive on the M135i, nor on anything much else I can think of, X1/3/5 excepted.
