I agree with those that wouldn't want the silver color shown above due to the difficulty matching it during a repair. I did see a pretty cool M5 Individual painted Ferrari Red that I really liked:

I'll pass and take Space Grey. Then I'll put my $8,000 elsewhere......maybe those ceramic brakes that are a rip off? Can't wait till Stoptech or somebody else makes them a lil more affordable.

I think they have an X5 M in Pure Metal Silver. The cost is relative. It's an expensive car and I am leasing it, so I don't think it's a big deal. If I was concerned about the money I probably wouldn't be getting an M5. With regards to scratches and repairs, I am also not that concerned. My cars are meticulously maintained but I expect a few rock chips, they are unavoidable. Like I said it is a lease and I will drive it and enjoy it and eventually trade it in and get a new one.
Leasing it sounds like a great idea so you don't have to worry about matching paint if any major scratches come up. FYI - I believe the X5M at the LA Auto Show was the new Donington Grey. Interestingly, it was highly metallic (I saw it at the show) so it's probably somewhat similar to your incoming car, although yours will likely have less brown in it.

We're looking forward to seeing your pics!

Just got back from the auto show and they also told me it was Donington Grey. From the pics I saw I was hoping it was the Pure Metal Silver. The car is supposed to reach the port December 7th.

I really hope it looks better in person because it just looks like sliver with a touch of pretension.

It's a bit like the famous Mercedes Benz Alubeam Silver which was a $12k option on the SLS. I would protect it with some 3M.

Cool process, but chrome shadow is a more expensive paint, and looks better. At least on pics, it's hard to gauge the beauty of that silver when you are not there in RL.

BMW imposes such color selection limits upon the US market, it's just a source of frustration to be shown paint they could, but won't do.
