New Differential

I was hearing a deep pitched whistle ever since i bought my 120d so I took it to my local Sytner Solihull and they said change the tyre the w*****s, when it was obvious it wasn't that.

Took it to the one I bought it from and they said they'll replace the whole differential. I was curious to know why at 20k mileage I'm having a problem with the differential. Of course, they'll just replace the whole thing as it's under warranty, but what inside the diff could be wrong? Any ideas?

Currently waiting on the diff to arrive and will be in this week to put it in.

Thanks

Bhav
