Traction issues?

Does anyone else have a problem putting the power down onto the road in their F20? Accelerating away from a standstill today onto a motorway in Sport mode, accelerated hard to 5000rpm in 1st, shifted to second and the traction control literally killed the engine power completely. No acceleration whatsoever for several seconds. My previous E92 handled wheelspin much better than that. Should I be shifting earlier? It's a 125d manual.

You should try Sport+ mode. That will allow some wheelspin.
Are you running winter tyres?

same problem here. much less now when the tires have "set", have driven it 2000km on winter tires now, but this is a known issue. Are you running soft winter tires? I'm running on 205/55-16 Hakka 7. Was not a problem on the 116d M sport with 18" wheels I tried earlier. As ovekvam said - try Sport+ mode, and there should be no problem again. I just call it the "overtaking mode" cause I had to use it every time I wanted to overtake a car with the hope of passing it before next day...

Or do like me, use Michelin X-Ice 3 tyres. They have a special sipe design that works better with traction control systems. Unless it really is slippery, I can use full throttle in second gear without having the traction control cutting the power.
