BMW Jack
Hi Guys,
Ive spoken to my local BMW dealer today to find out the costing for a BMW jack that will fit perfectly in the jacking points under the F20, primarily being used for winter wheel swapping on the drive. The parts department said that it only comes as part of a kit, that costs around the £100 mark inclusive of VAT. I asked if they sell the jack seperately as i dont need the other items (wheel wrench, gloves, chalk etc...) but no luck. I also asked for the part number, but they wont tell me So .... does anyone know the part number and a retailer so that i can purchase this seperately and not direct from BMW? Or does anyone know of a good alternative scissor type of jack that i can purchase to do the same job that will fit into the propper plastic jacking points on the underside of the car? I'd rather not buy a trolley jack due to their size/weight for keeping in the boot. What solution do you guys use for your F20's? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!! |

You can try to get a e46 jack from eBay, it should fit the special BMW style rectangular jack point under the f20 body.

I bought a cheap aftermarket scissor jack, but I'm not really impressed with it. The jacking points on the F20 are easy to use with most jacks. It would also be easy to make a custom jack pad to fit it perfectly.

Could someone with an F20 and a tape measure, possibly get me the dimensions of the inside of the plastic cutout that the jack fits into? Finally, Fuzzer - i guess you have this jack, have you tried it with the F20 yet: how well does it perform? Appologies for the slightly obvious questions: my car should arrive next tuesday and i wanted to get something ordered so that it arrives before the following weekend Last edited by BenN; 10-25-2012 at 12:14 PM.. |

Thanks Fuzzer, i took the plunge and ordered an e46 jack - for a few pounds extra this one is supposedly brand new mint condition: so hopefully its as described!

Haha, thanks for that. If everything falls into place, the car will arrive on Tuesday, the jack at some point in the week and in theory i can fit the Winter Alloys at the weekend ... all before i need the car the following weekend for a trip away
Things never goto plan tho eh. Have you done the winter swap yet fuzzer? |

Seems like a brand new jack from the dealer should be 83 dollars.
http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...83&hg=71&fg=05 There seems to be a special version for the Aussies. Maybe rotating the opposite direction down under? :-) |
