Father of the Ford GT Raj Nair leaves Ford over 'inappropriate behavior'
Ford's president in North America out following complaints, internal investigation

Raj Nair, president of Ford Motor Co. in North America, has left the automaker after complaints of "inappropriate behavior," Ford said Wednesday.

Ford, in a statement, said an internal investigation found that "certain behavior by Nair was inconsistent with the company's code of conduct." It did not divulge the nature of Nair's behavior.

CEO Jim Hackett said Ford "made this decision after a thorough review and careful consideration. Ford is deeply committed to providing and nurturing a safe and respectful culture and we expect our leaders to fully uphold these values."

The move is effective immediately.

In the statement, Nair, 53, said, "I sincerely regret that there have been instances where I have not exhibited leadership behaviors consistent with the principles that the Company and I have always espoused. I continue to have the utmost faith in the people of Ford Motor Company and wish them continued success in the future."

Reached by phone at his home earlier Wednesday afternoon, Nair declined to comment to Automotive News when asked about his employment status with Ford.

Before being named to his latest position in May 2017, Nair was Ford's head of product development and chief technical officer. He oversaw the launch of the 2016 GT supercar, aluminum-bodied F-150 and 50th-anniversary Mustang, among a plethora of other vehicles.

Nair's tenure as product boss wasn't without controversy. The automaker twice had to lower mileage claims for its C-Max crossover and reimburse owners when the vehicle didn't achieve the rating originally advertised.

Nair started at Ford in 1987 as a body and assembly operations launch engineer and held various positions on more than 11 vehicle programs in 13 assembly plants, according to Ford's media website. He also worked on assignments in Europe, South America and Asia Pacific.

Days before Jim Hackett was named CEO, Ford last year awarded Nair a $5 million retention bonus that would vest in May of 2020.

All I read is guy who had something to do with GT leaves because of bad decisions. My mind filled in 'dumb V6' for the reason. Amiright?

This. It's the only possible explanation in today's corporate and social climate, and likely the only issue Ford feels it wouldn't be able to control internally because of said climate. Questionable technical decision making may very well have been a mitigating factor, but it's likely secondary or tertiary.

I'm sure we'll learn more. Kudos to Ford for being proactive if the above is, indeed, the case.

I was just making a dumb joke, I did see the actual article. But I'd still prefer the Ford GT I can't afford to have a V8.

What I don't get is that why would someone still do such childish things - whatever he did - I mean, the guy have money - why don't you just go have a vacation, relax, have escort services until you are sick of it, I mean take off some stress and then come back to work and work appropriately without resorting to such silly things at your workplace.

Why the need to flirt with someone, even if it's your secretary and you are main boss. Why? Why ruin your job, your reputation etc? Even worse when you have kids yourself - what are you going to tell them when they hear about it is social media? They will get under pressure from their classmates and friends. I mean it's creating such a huge mess for what? For some chick on your work who you like or some sex or whatever it was. I just don't get it

My guess is because people get more satisfaction and challenge from getting things they shouldn't really have. I'm sure he tried other services and lost all the thrill of it really quick. Sad story.

The fact they shouldn't do it and the repercussions of doing it is all part of the thrill for these guys.

I was told in high-school (30 years ago) by a political science/current events teacher not to do anything you don't want to end up on the front page of a newspaper.

I believe most of these guys being ousted now would have benefited immensely from this simple advice.
