I own this M235i and I can tell you from the M135i I replaced it for there is a huge leap in grip and cornering in this specification, the two are poles apart. I would say that the Golf R would easily beat the M135i round that particular track given how much better the M235i is.

How is that possible? They have the same engine, the same suspension, and slightly different body shape. Did you order these cars with different tyres or differentials?

The M235i has different suspension, bigger brakes, LSD, aero body parts and is manual. It also is fitted throughout with carbon, when added to the already lightened chassis it should compare very favourably with my old heavier auto M135i

If you ordered it with LSD and manual transmission, that will make a noticeable difference. Do you know more details about what the differences are regarding suspension and brakes? When I looked at it, they seemed to be very similar.

I compared an M235i to my 116i M-Sport at a track event, and the cornering speeds were in the same ballpark. The 2'er had better tyres and LSD, but my 116i is lighter. On the straights it was of course no comparison!

The M235i has all the MPerformance upgrades, plus adaptive suspension. The bigger perforated MP brakes are very good

So you are basically comparing oranges and apples. An M135i with the same options would behave just like it. You have a very capable car!
