Does anyone else agree this would of been a more suitable looking M135i?

I stumbled across this article dating back to Feb 2012 when the M135i was confirmed to be in the pipeline and details were simply speculation. The article features a rendering of a then possible concept for the M135i and imo it probably seems more true to how the M135i should have looked.

I do appreciate the whole 'wolf in sheeps clothing' aspect of the car BMW actually put into production, but part of me wishes it looked more like this mock up in order to add some further differences between it and the M Sport 1 series.

I'd say that's going to be the full fat M13#

What BMW are actually doing a full M version of the 1 series? I thought the M badge was going to be reserved for the 2 series and the M135i would remain the pinicle of the 1 series range.

Pure guesswork on my part. As the M135i doesn't have an LSD, there is room for another car, maybe something more hardcore?

I'd be suprised but it would be great to see, coupe's aren't practical for people like my self with young children in car seats, so to see the option of a smaller 5 door full M car would be welcome. The new M3 will more than likely be out my price range so that leaves the 5 door M135i at present.

With Audi releasing the S3 in both a hatch and saloon and rumour that the RS3 will under go the same treatment could mean BMW follow the trend and do both a M2 and 1M hatch... Wishful thinking on my part

Supposedly the full fat M treatment will be applied to the 2.

I like the look of those photoshops but they aren't very well done. You can see in the first side profile that the car has the F20 headlights then in the front on it has what appear to be f10 headlights with an e81 bonnet/grill. All bonnets now have the higher opening line due to Euro pedestrian safety regulations.

The bumper is 1M. I think somebody on one of the forums was selling a car with that mod and in reality it looked a bit odd.

Yeah I've seen the Youtube videos, I think its a nice touch adding the 1M bumper, it gives the car a more aggressive stance and sets it apart from M Sport a bit more. In all honesty that mock up on the link is probably achievable if your willing to put the investment and man hours in to make it happen. Supersprint have a quad pipe full system for the 125i, d & M135i already. I personally wouldn't have a clue how to modify my car to that desired effect.

Agree 100%
I will be having a custom built 1M front on my M135i, and if any exhaust manufacturer would build a quad exhaust for the M135i, I will be the first in line to get one

Problem is the more bespoke a car becomes, the more expensive it is. How much more would you be willing to pay over the existing price for an M135i that has unique body panels and a quad exhaust?

Will be interesting to see what the M2 and M3 offers. The M3/M4 is confirmed to have a turbo 6... as will the M2. So an M2 with the same amount of power as the M3? How different will that engine be to the current M135i engine, which guys are already getting great gains from tuning.

Will we see a 1 series sedan to compete with the A3 sedan and CLA?

Maybe there will be a limited edition 1 series M hatch run at the end of the model cycle, like they had on the 1M coupe.

Manufacturers want you to trade in your car often to buy the next best thing, so there will always be something newer and better in the pipeline. Otherwise we'd all just keep our cars for the entire model cycle!

Or perhaps the M2 will get a 3 cylinder engine?

This M2 info is nowhere confirmed, or do you have a source or link ?

I would not be surprised if the M2 gets a 4 cylinder, that would be the most logical in the M lineup:

M5/M6 : 8 cylinder
M3/M4 : 6 cylinder
M1/M2 : 4 cylinder

So what about the M135i/M235i which have 6 cylinders? I don't know how BMW marketing will solve this. Maybe stop sell them when the M version is released, or find good arguments why a 4 cylinder M should cost more than a 6 cylinder M Performance.

Mercedes A45 AMG with 360 HP from 4 cylinder already proves that getting enough HP out of 4 cylinder is not the issue.

The four cylinder E30 M3 certainly cost a lot more than the 6 cylinder 325i.

I don't think it would of been much of a price hike in all honesty to incorporate the features from the rendering to add a meaner look to the M135i. The parts were already there waiting from the 1M, few minor tweaks and they would of sat nicely on the M135i.

BMW could of even done what Mercedes have planned for the A45 AMG and offered that more bespoke look, or something similar as an 'edition 1' style option for the standard car, which included the mirrors, front and rear bumpers, pipes and alloys. Then came up with all this patter about how if you spend x amount more you get a more 'individual & aerodynamic' machine and enthusiasts would of snapped their hands off.

They've certainly left a gap in their market with the M Cars, I think a smaller version of the M3, whether it be a 5 door 1M successor or a Saloon M2 would attract quite a big audience tbh. Practicality and Power without having to fork out £55-60k to be able to own it would appeal to a lot of people, including myself

I don't know if BMW will bring an 1M again, but they'll release an M2 Coupe and an M2 GranCoupe for sure
