Guns N' Roses - Not In This Lifetime ...

If you're a fan go see this tour!!! I just saw them two nights ago at FedEx Field, and it was a good old fashioned stadium rock concert. It was 2.5 hours of non-stop wailing and shredding. Axl is in exceptionally good form, especially when you consider what he's done to himself over the years. And Slash shreds better than ever. Duff is great, and the rest of the crew, help carry this awesome show. Being at this concert made me wish I was old enough to see them live when they were at their prime. Although, having grown up in Montreal, that would have meant seeing them at the infamous GNR and Metallica concert during which Hetfield got burned by the pyro and Metallica had to end their set early, and Axl walked off early during the GNR set, which sparked a riot.

Isn't Axl touring with AC/DC? Is he doing two tours at the same time?

I didn't realize the original lineup was the band that was touring.

The AC/DC tour is done. They are two show in on this tour now. I think there are another 20ish dates on the tour.

Axl, Slash, and Duff (and Dizzy who joined after Appetite for Destruction). No Izzy or Adler. But Fortus is really good and Ferrer fills in well, and they've both been with Axl for a while now.

Looks like AC/DC will be in South Florida in August. Who is stepping in? Feel like I missed some news.

I thhnk Axl rejoins them. The GNR tour ends five days before the first date of the American leg of the AC/DC tour. Before AC/DC was over in Europe. Maybe Axl's got the energy to pull it off. The AC/DC guys are like 5-15 years older than Axl.

Regretting not going to the FedEx show, have been hearing only good things. Hopefully they'll do a second run later this year... I do have 7th row tix to Sabbath coming up.

Ha, my former boss also went to the FedEx field concert and had a blast. A few questions on this as I'm looking for tickets myself here...

1. Did Sabastian Bach make an appearance?

2. How much did you pay for your ticket?

3. If I were to buy the nose bleeds (upper deck seating), in your opinion, is it worth it?

1. No Bach (I think that's a good thing)

2. I bought lower bowl tix in the endzone, $100 each (plus exhorbanant TicketMaster fees), and i got to see Alice in Chains and GNR play for a total of 3.5 hours (so about $30 an hour based on face value).

3. The only other concert I've been to at a football stadium (also FedEx) was U2's 360 tour. I sat in the nosebleeds, and it was still good but definitely quieter. But also a very different setup since the stage was in the middle of the field and people sat all around. Another difference is that I don't think they sold the upper deck for the GNR concert. The highest I saw people was the club level. If i remember right the tickets I looked at on that level were going for $80. I think at that height the speakers on the towers look like they are pointed right at you. In a stadium setup its all about the sound, because if you're in the seats you're basically already so far away that you end up watching the screens and not the stage. Based on my enjoyment factor, I would do it. It may be the only time we get to see these guys play together (at least playing this well together).

Also, Alice in Chains was a really solid opening act, but they are only signed up for the first 5 shows.

thanks for your input.

The SF concert is at the baseball stadium, so as you said the setup and sound direction will be different. The stage will be in the middle of the outfield, and based on my baseball experience, I don't think even first row of upper deck will be a good seat and I'll end up watching the screen.

Problem is, if you want to go into lower deck (baseball part), it's well over $250, and if you want to be on the field, it's like $400+...

Interesting that you prefer MSG to MetLife. I don't have any basis for comparison of either of those venues, but here I'd take FedEx over Verizon. Verizon has horrible reverb unless you are sitting right down the middle. It also gets worse the higher up you get. Of the stadiums I really prefer Nats Park. But the best venues are the 9:30 club and Merriweather Post Pavilion.

Thats awesome! I would love to see them in concert. I was living in Vegas about 8 years ago, and was on my way home from work, and randomly heard on the radio that Journey was playing one night only at Planet Hollywood.. Needless to say, I turned around right then and there and headed to the casino to see them lol.. I believe the same thing would happen if i found out GNR was playing near me.

930 club, ha ha that brings back memories. YES played 1 show at Caps center and announced it day of show. Had to go and amazing. Saw RUSH at Merriweather and it wasn't as good as I expected. Glad Axl is done with the foolishness.

if it was 930 club, they would have barricaded the doors...lol

I use to live in DC for 8 years...that venue cannot hold enough fans.

In '84(I think) we went to 930 to see The Cure and got there late. Wouldn't let us in. When the band took a break they let people out but still didn't let any one new in. Missed the whole show.

Nissan Pavilion (now Jiffy Lube live) is a great place to see a show. Going to see Breaking Benjamin and Disturbed there in a couple of weeks. Sucks getting in and out of there, but a great venue.

I was at the G&R / Metallica concert. 7th row! Very memorable show but not for the right reasons. Axl walked out because he was being shown the finger by Metallica fans. There was a little square area built into the stage that was right next to the band. He warned the crowd once then took off the second time it happened.

Glad the new tour is so good. I might need to find a city near by and attend. I still listen to them
