It should be stated that these accessories are not retrofittable to the E81,E82 , E87 and E88.

Blue = M-Brakes

Red = M-Performance

The F20 1 Series is listed as getting the option 2NH "M Sport brakes", just like the F30

The exact same vented M Sport discs are shared by the F20 and F30

Why the calipers are red and not blue i dont know

At the risk of sounding ignorant, isn't the 1M pretty much a M135i?

No the 1M had several M3 parts - brakes, steering, chassis/suspension components. The only thing that car shared with a the Series car was engine, gearbox, and seats. And even the engine was M-tuned.

I see. So what M parts would they throw on the 135i to make it a M135i?

Probably no M parts.

M performance range offers an unique engine of the tri-turbo diesel on the 50d cars, but have M-tuned parts - which probably means different spring rates suspension, M performance specific setup options.

To understand this - M3 shares little parts with the series car - it is essentially a different car that looks like the series car whereas the M Performance are series cars with tweaks.

1M currently shares M3 parts. The M135i will probably have no M specific parts. That's why many enthusiasts are saying that M now stands for marketing.

From new F13M & F12M specs thread:

Quote:
Optional M carbon-ceramic brakes reduce weight by 19.4 kg (42.8 lb) and increase fade resistance - calipers gold-colored
Yellow brakes = Awesomeness
