Now that I've done a few miles in the 125d and its starting to open up, Sport mode feels mad compared to Eco pro and comfort. Eco is soo dead it feels like the car has about 90bhp, comfort is feels like 140bhp while sport is just wow! 80/90/100 mph+ in a blink and it just wants to keep going! ESP when you have the sport auto box in sport mode and are using the paddles, I've seen 120mph too many times and I'm only revving it out to 3.5/4000rpm as its not 'run in' fully yet! I'm starting to think I've bought a licence loser as for the steering, I have VSS it's a turn and a bit to full lock, that doesn't change regardless of mode but what does change is the weight and sensitivity. Comfort & Eco, very light, very sensitive around town, motorway speed it's not as sensitive. Sport mode, heavier and not as sensitive all the time. Sport feels more like old hydraulic but not just as heavy with a bit less feedback to not so bad as to spoil the drive. IMO

Dear all,

I have a 125i without Sport or M Sport on order, and only found out now that sport+ is only available with those packages. So I was wondering: what's the difference between sport+ and Sport in combination with DTC?
Thanks in advance for the response!

It seems that both DTC mode and DSC Off mode automatically selects the Comfort Mode settings for steering, suspension and engine management. That means that you can not combine DTC and Sport Mode, unless you have the Sport+ setting, which does exactly that.

I wish I had a setting for Sport Mode and DSC Off!

Thanks for the answer! That's frustrating though though: I'll have the M sport brakes and the M suspension (even the M steering wheel) but I won't be able to select sport+... While someone with a 116d "Sport" can

I think the M suspension, like other options such as vss and the sport auto, "unlocks" sport+..

I can confirm that the sport auto gearbox enables sport+ since I have that option on my 125. Haven't had the balls to drive hard in that mode yet, plus I'm still only have 300km on the clock.

But your car is a Sport (which is also visible from the red line on your key in the avatar image), so you would get Sport+ mode anyway.

Oh, I had thought that the Sport package was just cosmetic (barring the fantastic seats). My apologies for spreading falsehoods.

can you select different default driving mode. Mine always refers back to comfort.
I would like sport as default for my key and eco for my wife's key.

Hmm, here's what I found on the web:

Sport+ gibt es bei:
2TB Sport Automatik Getriebe
2VL Variable Sportlenkung
2VF Adaptives Fahrwerk
7AC Sport Line
337 M Sportpaket

http://www.bimmerfest.com/news/63947...o-not-have-it/

It looks like the 704 passive M suspension doesn't count, but if you have one of the other options, you should be fine..

I understand that dealers can code it so that the auto start-stop feature defaults to the last used mode when you start the engine. So if you had it turned off when you last shut off the engine, then it will stay off the next time you start it. If this is true then it wouldn't surprise me if the same applies to the default driving mode.

I have an F21 116 EDE, and I use the eco pro especially with long distances. If you're driving 120 km/h in 6th gear with ECO Pro on, you really see the counter with "won" kilometers climbing fast.

But in normal circumstances, I really prefer comfort and sport because in acceleration, the eco pro just feels sluggish.

And it's a bit of a shame that you can't select comfort as the default mode.

But won compared to what? I also get big eco pro numbers in the 116i, but I seem to get the same fuel consumption with normal driving in Comfort Mode.

I too seriously doubt the alleged 10% increased range if you use eco pro mode.

As many have already said, I too have noticed that comfort and eco mode makes no difference in fuel consumption. So I have no reason to believe the little blue numbers saying that I´ve gained some extra kilometers.

If I use eco pro mode, it is ONLY because I find it more comfortable to drive sometimes when I am tired since the throttle and steering is more slow responding.

The only thing ECO Pro does is persuade you to drive slower. The slow throttle response doesn't invite you to accelerate fast; when you drive faster than 130km/u it shows you a warning; etc.

When you're driving at a constant speed of 120km/u and you hit cruise control, it doesn't make a difference if you are in ECO Pro, Comfort or Sport when it comes to fuel consumption. So the 'saved km's' number in ECO Pro is a little bit BS. Basically it's psychology. Call it gamification if you will. "When you save fuel, you get more points"

Eco pro mode is nice for driving in very slippery conditions. The soft throttle response makes it more difficult to break traction.

Someone here suggests that Sport uses the same fuel as comfort. Well mine definitely doesn't. Sport mode constantly holds 500rpm higher and usually 1 gear less than comfort mode and driving around town that does make a difference.
Ive been fannying around with the 2 modes constantly and have come to this conclusion^

Shame because I much prefer the steering and suspension in Sport mode.

I have a manual transmission, so I decide the RPM at all times. I think our car has slightly higher consumption in Sport, but Eco Pro and Comfort seems to be similar.

But you're not going to notice any difference between Eco Pro and Sport when it comes to consumption while you're driving along at a constant speed. It's not like Eco Pro magically makes the car require less fuel to stay at a given speed, so I agree with nilo when he says that the "saved km/mls" is bs.

I should have said I had an automatic and I'm not lucky enough to drive at a constant speed (who is lol) therefore sport is more expensive for me.
