Steering on m135i

Hi!

This weekend I had opportunity to test f31 335i xdrive with almost all options (MSRP 80.000€ ).. I checked VIN number and realised it had servotronic (not variable sport steering) but the steering felt too soft (even in sport) compared to my f20 116i..
How's with m135i? Do you think that steering is too soft? I've read some complaints regarding steering on f30 forum but not here..

Thanks

The steering is light when in comfort/eco mode and heavy in Sport/Sport+ mode.

The steering in most if not all modern BMW's are not the best when it comes to steering feel but that is mainly due to change from hydraulic to electric steering.

I am not so sure it has to do with the electric assist. I think the reason is a very small caster angle.

The regular steering from BMW is just about ok. Servotronic and variable sport steering are both utter gash. It's all too vague, hitting the sport setting just makes it feel heavier, it's not like it's a naturally less assisted feel.

I'm pretty used to mine - and even when I've driven our old E91 or my Clio for a few days, I quite like getting back behind the wheel of the M135i. It's plenty crisp, the weighting in Sport is familiar and I really don't find there's any glug in the system as some describe. Feel is sometimes an issue in really tight, low-speed corners at 8-plus tenths but there are plenty of worse systems about and with slightly higher pressures, a wheel alignment and the tyres wearing in it has certainly improved.

I sampled a new RS Clio 200 EDC and a Fiesta ST the other day and didn't suddenly find they were brimming with communication by comparison, but if you've come from a 911 or Elise it will feel dreadful.
