SE and ED Delays

My Wife's SE order has been delayed twice now, dropped from week 40 to 44 and now 48.

The dealer emailed me this today. All dealers have received this from BMW.

UPDATED:21/09/2012 ALLOY WHEEL RESTRICTION-2FD (F20/F21 SE AND ED MODELS)

Please be advised that the F20/F21 16" V-Spoke Wheel, option code 2FD, is restricted in production from week 36 (September) until week 52 (December) inclusive. This alloy wheel is standard on SE models (all engine variants) and the 116 ED;this restriction could delay orders for an additional 2-5 weeks.

At this current time all sold orders are within the quoted lead time however we advise that you monitor your orders and ensure that customers are well advised of the lead times and any subsequent delays, as per the Current Lead Time Report.

In order to improve on the availability for sold customer orders, any stock/showroom/dealer own use vehicle affected should be amended where possible to an alternative alloy wheel, and should sales planning identify customer orders are affected then we may amend stock orders to improve the availability for sold customer vehicles.

Cheers

If they will upgrade you for free and that keeps the schedule get your dealer to change them to either (379) 17" wheels or if possible the (385) 18"

My wife ordered the SE because it came with 16" wheels with normal tyres. Upgrade to the 17" wheels you get lower profile runflats.
Our roads are not great and my wife suffers with her back, she tried a sport with 17's and loved the seats but felt the ride quality was a lot better on the SE.
So we ended up ordering an SE with Sport seats with lumber and sports steering wheel.
If she had been ok with 17's we would have gone with a Sport model.

My ED is supposed to be delivered this week, but my dealer hasn't informed me of delivery nor delay.
I'm going to be quite annoyed is this happens to my car. The week I placed my order, they informed me of a waiting time of 8-10 weeks. I'm now in week 15.
