Garage List
2016 BMW 430iAM-Sport  [0.00]
2012 125i  [9.00]
I asked my stealer about an M badge, and he said that they'd have franchise issues with BMW if they sold these for anything other than a true M car....which M Sports are not.
Shame, 'cos I am a poser! Lol

The Dealer is a fool

Did you point out to him that your M Sport already has several M Badges on it now, and if you buy any of the BMW Performance add ons which I am sure he is happy to sell you, they would be everywhere on the car.

Stuff him, if you want a M badge on yours, buy one from another dealer or go online and buy a genuine one on EBay

And the genuine M-cars do not have the M-badges anyway. They say M and a number.

Personally, I cannot see an issue if you have a M badge on your car, provided it had M imput at the factory when built.
EG the current M135i or an M Sport for that matter.

If you removed the originals and put a M1 badge on a F20/F21, then it is just stupid.

It becomes the full 'Wank' when someone tries to make a pretend verion of an M car by taking a standard 3er like a Diesel 320d, fitting it with quad pipes , copy M wheels and a Chinese made M3 badge on it's rear.

I am sure that we have all seen these fakes getting around with all the bolt on bits of crap and shit paintjobs which makes them all the more rediculous.

When I see them, I often think ' The amount of money they have spent on that piece of crap they could have bough an older genuine M car and enjoyed the true experience'.

Must admit is doesnt bother me that much. Although someone where I live did actually add E46 M3 side grills to a 318i, which I though was a bit much...

It doesn't really bother me that much either to be honest...... I will probably de-badge mine myself when I get it anyway.

I kind of like the look without any badges on the rear.

I also agree with AusF20 comments above.

I guess people add undeserved badges to increase the perceived status of the car. But no car has lower status than a car where people can see that it is not what it tries to look like. The audience will frown more at a 328i with M3 badges than a 316i with honest badges.

Quite a few people see ///M-badges on the back on non-M-car the same way. Even though they are probably wrong, they will dislike your car because of it.

They are probably the same people who look down on anything under a 5 series, so I am not too concerned.

I have had 3 M cars and whilst they were all fantasic, the depreciation on them was a killer. I have to admit I was a bit M-ist when I had mine, but I didn't care if someone had a M badge or not. It was when they put the number with it and the other shit to try to make it look like a real M

Jees wish I have never bothered asking
It's ok mate, put anything you like is your own preference. I saw a very nice combo before too in Australia, a Mazda 3S with Mugen (Honda sport parts) stickers and TRD (Toyota Racing) badge on it. And the driver is still proud of his car!
