Cruise control: sport mode only??

Hi all just having a read through the manual and it mentions that sport mode is engaged when cruise is activated?? Can this be changed as it seems a bit strange. I would have thought it would have been beneficial to use Eco pro whilst using cruise? Or comfort even? Why would you need additional responsiveness travelling at a constant speed?!?

Anyway. If anyone knows please reply :-)

Thanks.

Cruise control works fine in Eco Pro, Comfort and Sport mode. It is however disabled in Sport+.

I think you'll find that you're in Sport mode when cruise is on - just press resume after leaving an Autoroute toll and watch the rev counter spin up to 4000+!! It doesn't matter which mode you've selected (even hopeless EcoPro), cruise puts you in Sport while it's on.

Our 116i does not. It will keep counting "earned" kilometers in blue letters in Eco Pro with with cruise control on.

Weird. Maybe this differs regionally.

I wonder why this is so. Very unusual thing. Never seen that in any other BMWs I've owned and I've owned a fee different types.

I drive a 125i manual gear and the cruise control works fine in Eco pro mode (also comfort or sport, depending on my choice). It does not work with sport + mode.

^^^ That's what I recall from my test drives, but I can't be sure until I take delivery of the car in a couple of days

I think a few people are confused as to what is being asked. The question is not whether cruise works with sports mode, but rather if the driving mode defaults to sports mode when using cruise control.

Yes, the miles gained are only present in Eco Pro.

If I put my UK M Sport into cruise control while in Eco Pro it counts the miles still but the responsiveness and pull while in cruise is equivalent to being in Sport..

This is far more noticeable on my car as its a little 118d and is rather lacking in anything other than Sport anyway.

Give it a try when you're next on the motorway. Go up a hill in Eco Pro and accelerate from 60 to 70. Then do the same using cruise to go from 60 to 70, there's no comparison.

In the 116i, the torque seems to be quite similar between Eco Pro and Sport mode, but the response is quicker in Sport. It also has a very different throttle mapping, with seemingly full throttle at half pedal. Since I am not using the pedal with cruise control, it would be difficult to tell which is which. But the car does not say anything about going away from Eco Pro when using Cruise Control.

I have the 125i M Sport with Sport auto and the Cruise works in all modes except Sport+
I do get amused when in Eco mode (on very rare occasions) when the cruise is on and those 'blue' kms show up.
After driving in Sport, it is though the car is saying 'really' I know you don't care but here it is.
