New Member w/ 2010 335d
Hey guys, so it's been about a week now but i decided to join the BMW family, more specifically the diesel BMW family. Came home with a 2010 BMW 335d. Got it at Open Road BMW in Edison NJ. The car was built in October of 2009 as a custom order. It's painted Blue Water Metallic w/ a Grey Dakota Leather interior. It is beautiful. I love the color and the interior compliments it very well. The car is fully loaded only missing a few things like Adaptive Cruise and the iPod interface, otherwise it has everything, Premium, Convience & Sports Package. Hifi Sound, Sunshades, Comfort Access. You name it and it's got it! Its a pleasure to drive. The car came with 1100 miles. It sat on the dealers lot for about i guess 7 months before we decided to take it home. I guess they couldn't sell it because it is very pricey and finally wanted to get rid of it. It was the only 335d they had on the lot. Never been titled or registered so those miles are all test drive and maybe demo miles. When I first saw the $56k price tag I was like damn are you insane? but they took $7,500 off and said 2.9% financing for 72 months, how could you say no?
Originally we were looking at an Audi A3. Knew we wanted diesel, much more fuel efficient especially for driving in NYC. However we couldn't find an A3 TDI and for the price their interiors were all outdated. Test drove a Jetta TDI and although its very similar to the A3, the A3 rode a lot nicer and had a lot more luxury feel to it. My parents weren't sure what to do because we had a 2007 Lexus RX350 to get rid of and our other car was my baby, a 2003 Infiniti G35 Sedan 5A/T. I said well if you want to trade in 2 cars, go for something performance oriented that could outperform the G. Low and behold after driving the 335d it surpassed the G by far. I've driven a 335i, my uncle has one in San Antonio, a 2007. Non sport package or anything but its still tons of fun to drive. I had a blast driving it when I was there in January. After driving the diesel I don't understand why anyone would buy a 335i. The diesel feel just as fast if not faster, especially on the highway. It gets MUCH better gas mileage, the engine is stronger, its quiter & smoother. I love when you step on the gas the engine just kinda grunts, the tach doesn't shoot up from a down shift, you just feel your body press into the seat and watch the speedo climb. its a different feeling. its a great feeling. Its lots of fun watching people look at you like you're crazy when you put diesel in. My first mileage check gave me 24mpg. Not too bad. Havn't had a change to put it on the highway or anything yet. I've only taken it to a 100mph so far, can't wait to see the increased limiter let me go to 155! For about a week now i've tried to join but it wouldn't let me. i finally got access to the site, i was recomended by a buddy of mine. I'm a member on G35Driver & Audi world. Right now in the stables are a 2010 BMW 335d & a 2009 Audi Q5 Premium Plus 3.2. I plan on doing a few mods, def hardwire my V1, i find it retarded how the only cig lighter is in my center console and not ahead of the shifter beneath the radio. I would like to enable my rear fog lights. Need to tint the windows, 35% all the way. I may also change my corona color to a more LED white color. Eventually for the colld NYC winters and my ski trips i will need a second set of rims (preferably BMW rims, havn't decided on staggered yet) so i can put winter tires on because the summer tires are very pricey! (RE050) I already got a flat!, nail in my rear tire. good thing we got the tire protection warranty. All in all its a great car and it is what a BMW should be. Is it overkill, yes. a 320d would suffice. Do i love it and do i in any way regret it, HELL NO!! So would you guys suggest any other mods or anything? Enjoy some pics, when i get a chance i'll take some with my DSLR and post em! |

Coolieman, congrats on the new ride. Bluewater is a very nice colour, and I'm sure the Dakota Grey goes very well with it. What is your trim?
Regards

Light Burl Walnut trip. Honestly the only thing extra i'd add to this car would be the iPod interface. I'm so pissed, how the hell do you put a USB in the glove compartment that won't work for iPods? only BMW. My Audi Q5, just plug it in and boom it syncs up just like an iPod does. |

Thanks for the headsup on the power outlet. I've been driving a 328 loaner for over a week (HPFP problem on my 335), it's been driving me nuts having my Escort cord stretching to the center console and being unable to close it!

Congrats on the diesel! You will love it more and more every time you drive it!
Also the outlet plug on the passenger well only applies to 2010+ models where the center console does not have the cigarette package. |
