Extended test drive?

What's the longest anyone's got for a test drive in the M135i?

Are dealers letting them out for a few days yet?

Good luck with anything over an hour, unless you arrange it prior.

Most dealers do not want you to get too familiar with the car, as you start to look at the practical things that could make you hesitate on the purchase. They want you to think with your heart, not your head.

There are lots of people out there that bought a car that the dealer 'suggested' to them into after a short test drive. The sales guy wants the sale, and knows if he/she gets you back to the office whilst you are still excited by the drive you are far more likely to sign then and there.

You have to keep in the back of your mind;
The sales guy doesn't care about the car I really want.

I do not know how many times I have heard
"I got this colour and extras as it meant I did not have to wait too long"
and this one, the day after you sign.
"They told me that the order is 'closed' so I cannot add any of the extras I would have liked"

It is best to advise them beforehand where you want to drive it and for how long.
I did that before I test drove the 125i M Sport. It took about 3hrs.
I drove city, highway, mountain roads etc and in every mode to get a true feeling of the car.

When I got my own 125i, I did the same roads and enjoyed them even more.

My advice to any novice
Do not sign anything when you get back to the showroom.
Give yourself 24hrs to review their offer and look at all the options etc and the price you are prepared to pay. If possible go to another dealer and then compare them and their offers.

"Enjoy the test drive" Do not be afraid to drive it hard.

A Car dealer friend says; If you want to buy a Demo, you should double (standard model) or tripple (sport model) the kms that are shown on the clock as that will take in account the real wear and tear done by some demo drivers and then the harder treatment dished out by the sales guys when they drive it by themselves.

I think this depends on the kind of relationship you develop with the sales guy.

On the E60, F07, F20: i was offered a full day (10 am to 4 pm) when i requested an extended test drive.

On the F13 and 6GC: i was offered a few hours but this was because the demo had just arrived at the dealership, I could get one for the weekend now if i asked nicely.

Long test drive or nothing.... £35k + is a lot of money after spending that 12 months ago at the same dealer...
