Why do YOU park reverse?

I always wondered what personal reasons had for backing up into a parking spot rather than going in forward. What's yours? Some of the reasons I can think of, and do it myself is:

-Easier to maneuver backwards
-Keep the sun on the tints & away from seat fronts
-Easier to get out & not hit someone

I noticed that higher-end cars do this more...

Crap, mod can you move this to the General Automotive board? Heh.

well i park backwards cos the front end of our cars are usually much lower than the rear end so you dont risk scraping your front end against the curb if you back up instead of pull forward into the lot.

also its much easier to get out when you back in... no risk of t-boning someone cos you didnt see them going by behind you.

same reason as above, especially the fact that it's easier to maneuever because it's super useful in parking lots with super narrow space

car looks better from the front....
No emarrising backing out while you think people are laughing about your expensive car paired with poor driving skills...

But I think it is what it is: easier

My main reason is bumpers are cheaper/easier to replace than the front. I've already had two people hit and run my rear bumper by pulling too far forward in end to end style parking lots. They just left mild scuffing but it seriously pissed me off though I was glad it wasn't the front but its not enough to call in an insurance claim on.

same here...i'm slammed front and rear, and yet i can still back up over the curb and everything clears (including my exhaust)...

...and it is SO much easier pulling out forward than having to reverse it out of your spot whenever you leave somewhere.

although i have to admit, it really just boils down to which ever end of the car i want to flaunt on any given day . i'd say i park in reverse about 50% of the time, as the rear of my car doesn't get any more or any less attention than the front...which is usually a bad thing when it comes to crowded parking lots - if there's a 1000-car parking lot with 500 cars filling up the front half, i'm the guy who parks on an end spot in the very last row as far away as possible from anyone else lol...so i only like to flaunt it from a distance.

i do it when its convenient. if its a tight fit, i won't do a reverse park just because i don't trust my backwards driving in tight spaces.

i don't know... sometimes i'm bored.

no chance of grinding on the curb since back has much higher ground clearance.

Antecedents? "It" has nothing to do with "it", eh? Actually, "it" is "it" so "it" has everything to do with "it."

I'd much rather back in if I'm not sure if I'll clear the curbstop. I just know I'd have one of those brainless moments where I pull up too far.

1. Taking every chance to use PDC.
2. People will take it to be a 320i or other smaller engine and not mess with it.
3. No risk of hitting the curb with the front end.

My front end is too low to park forwards, so I park reverse. The butt can clear a park-stop where the front can barely clear a sideways soda can. Added bonus that it shows off the front of the car, but primarily reason #1.

front end clearance is the biggest reason. i usually don't back in unless theres a parking bump or island/curb.
