Age of M135i drivers on this forum

How old are the M135i drivers on the forum? I've just turned 24 in Febuary.

My reason for the post is that I went into BMW up at Newcastle over the weekend and wound up having a conversation with one of the salesman, in which I told him my intentions of ordering an M135i sometime this month. He responded with quite a suprised expression, which I can only assume was due the fact that not many young people can A) afford to buy and run a car like that and B) manage the power that it offers.

So I was just wondering whether I'm quite young in comparison to the other owners on here

I am 23 and got a very bad reaction when I visited the nearest dealership for my 125i. He was rude, didn't even listen to my configuration preferences (I knew exactly what I wanted) and specced it up till it was over the budget I had mentioned earlier, then he suggested to go to the second hand department next-doors and finished our conversation after less then 15 minutes. Out of principle I ordered my car at another dealership, about half-an-hour from my hometown. I knew the salesman from a car-forum, and he did everything to inform me as good as he could... Still it's sad that there is such a negative attitude towards younger potential clients.

Probably not that many in the North East may be more on finance or PCP deals than buying the car outright I would think.

Yeah, I got a look which basically said you should be at Evans Halshaw not this dealership. Even though I'll be paying 100% of the cost upfront. Just not at Lloyds in Newcastle after I got looked down on by a bloke who I more than likely earn more than

Your age has nothing to do it.

You were just dealing with a 'Stupid' car sales person.
Don't deal with that person, deal with the sales manager.

If they are smart, they will sell the 'buyer' the car the buyer wants with the options they want on it.
Smart sales people want your return business and for you to recommend them to other people.

If anything, and they read you right, they upsell you a more expensive model that suits your needs

In Norway, the dealers used to judge potential buyers by the looks. A BMW buyer should not be too young, and they should be well dressed. Now they learned, and they will take young people and shabby dressed customers very seriously.

Thats what my folks told me, Dad said when he got his 5 series from Durham they were great and very helpful. What do you mean when you say 'they will match brokers prices' btw?

My trip to Lloyds wasn't intentional it just happened really as we were passing. I can't even say that the salesman wasn't particularly rude, even after he knew my intentions. He just simply seemed to look down on me, which wasn't very professional imo.

I was in there couple times before getting the car. Sometimes nobody approached me for quite some time. Sometimes I was greeted warmly. Depends on the sales really.

Yes, I have noticed that. Looking European in China means people think you are rich, even if you dress like a homeless person.

I went to Col Crawford dealer in Australia and the guys didn't even care. Treated me like I was a kid on a bicycle, didn't even want to show me the car. Also wanted to have a look at a Nissan 370Z and also the guy didnt care, not even showed me the car.
Customer Service is only good if you appear to have the $$$$.

21 years old as long as you drive responsibly and as long as you can afford a car like the M135i, everything is okay

But I have to say that the dealers did not take me serious in the beginning, neither... But that is not a big surprise.

Lucky bugger

I reckon I'd be more able to afford a flash car were I now in my 20's/30's, pre kids and vast mortgages.
