335i Coupes were starting at $37k in 2007. 435i's are now starting at $46k.

Love the STI. - Especially the hatchback models (I think from 2 years ago). Their resale value is super high too.

The teenager in me still likes the 04-07 STI's along with there boxer rumble. Had a chance to drive my friends modded STI on a canyon road & it was VERY fun, endless grip lol.

Adjusting only for inflation, the car should be priced at $38,928 in 2014, so the car actually got cheaper while also becoming slightly more refined.

name one other car that performs equal or worse compared to 10 years ago with basically zero improvments

no significant tech upgrades
gain weight
worse straight line performance
equal straight line power

why should the STI get a pass for improving little to nothing over the last 10 years. look at the progress that basically any other manufacturer has made over that same time period.

Well, clearly the consumer doesn't care as their sales have remained quite healthy. I think it's a testament for how good the car is.

I'm quite happy with the performance of the car. If they could keep the recipe they have, and get me an additional 6-7 MPG . . I'd be happy.

Reading over on the AMG forums some of those CLA guys are getting an average of 28-30mpg when not beating their car.

I loved the boxer sound too, but once you change the headers to equal length, that goes away.

???? STI, S2000, M3, Nissan Maxima, 335....all cost roughly the same to insure. The difference might be 200 bucks per year if not less. When I was in market for STI my quote was around 1200-1300, then it was the same for A4 and 335

My M235 is almost double to insure compared to what my '11 STI was. For what it's worth my wife's '13 335 was also more to insure.

For $40k, you should get a lot more car. Interior is no thank you for $40k.

I don't think you guys are looking at this right. You can get more fluff for 40k in a new car but you can't get more mechanical goodies. Performance brakes, front and rear limited slips, a bullet proof 6 speed trans, aluminum suspension, driver adjustable center diff and for $1000 in mods about 300 a whp all in a 4 door fairly practical package. Very little is needed to track the car. Also, maybe it was different in the later cars but I got 26 highway mpg in my 05 sti (23 city).

The STi and Evo X are both fantastic cars and I'm just glad we are still getting cars like these available for purchase. Remember when Mitsubishi didn't send us the Evo at all and how much we begged for it (here in the US) when Gran Turismo came out?

I will miss this aspect of my former K04'd A3...but I think in the long run, for enjoyment purposes, i made the right decision on the BMW.

Aesthetically, I thought the hatch was a pretty striking car but the new one is a bit absurd looking to me. It's just got too much going on for my taste.

In terms of actually purchasing one, the thing I can't get over is why Subaru even has a "build your own" option on their site. You can choose one of about six colors, and a nav/stereo system upgrade. That's it. No interior options, no ability to pick and choose power/manual, heated/not heated seats, or a fancy stereo or any of the other kinds of customization you can get from every other manufacturer in that price range.

And yet, it's still a 35k car. What a crock of shit.
