Where in Seattle to live.

What are the nicer areas to rent for a couple of years in Seattle? Have been there for a week a few years ago but what about long term (2+ years).

I don't know much, but my brother lives in Bellevue and it's rather nice but still close enough to drive or take the bus into the city.

Hit up the regional forums. They may be more help.
I was there last summer and thoroughly enjoyed how chill the city was.

The things to consider are where you will be working/spending time. Also, do you prefer an urban area or suburbs?

Some of the nicest areas on the west side (west of Lake Washington) would be Ballard, Queen Anne, and Shoreline. Capital Hill is more eclectic.

The east side is all suburbs. There are few roads into Seattle (I-90 and SR 520) as they have to cross a deep-ass lake on floating bridges. Traffic here blows and mass transit is kind of a joke so it is best to live near where you work.

It's where ive lived for two years now and I see rich assholes walking past people who are in shitty situations.

Seriously, I'd rather live in a poorer place and have happier people around me. Life isn't about how things look, its about what you need to do to feel the love you provide with your own actions returned towards you.

I agree with the others, where you work and where you like to hang out are the main things to consider. Traffic here sucks, so aim to minimize how far you have to drive.

Approximately where are you calling 'North Seattle'? When you were here, were there areas that you liked hanging out?

BTW, Razzi's in Greenwood is the best pizza place in town.

I can see that. I blame a lot of that on the rich punks working for that company out in Redmond. Totally destroyed the area west of Market street.

I grew up in the Kirkland - Juanita area, now live a little further north.

Yeah, the tiny company kinda shifts things here easily.

Anyway, I'm leaving!

THIS... why I go to Hawaii at least twice a year and one of these days I probably won't come back... Locals are not as well off as the relocating people from the mainland and of course the tourists, but i'll be damned if they are happy and they will be the first to give you the shirt off their back - even if it's their only shirt...

Yeah.

Go to Europe on a poor mans trip. Live it up by not planning and go nuts. If you can hold a knife while holding a fork, you'll have the time of your life.
