even if it's not a beauty, i think it still looks promising (-> lci, m trim, m coupe).

Is anybody out there with proper photoshop skills (unlike me) able to show us how the next 1m/2m coupe could look like?

People who hate this model are the very same people who are going to buy it.Futhermore pictures cannot shape reality ; just give a clue. And if drives like hell no one will care about the exterior.

It is one of the nicest looking BMWs after the e92 m3...

So sad to see the next iteration of it at this hideous level.

Too bad Audi drives more like a 1986 Yugo than a proper driver's car. And this isn't a matter of taste like shape and styling are. If all you're interested in is form (and not content as well) than welcome to chickenworld...

New EU regulations won't allow for bumpers like the one you posted - this and all future BMW cars are doomed. Maybe Ford will put out something exciting

It looks nothing like a POLO from the rear.

The rear design consists of an evolutionary trait from the E87 with the single taillamp unit. The POLO is not even similar the edges are not even the same as the 1er is more rounded than the straightlines of the POLO.

Not at launch. But We will get the option of a 135i and 130d Sporthatch.

not a big fan of the f20 up to now, but I'll wait to see it in real life to have a proper idea of how the new design works.

They would have got away with it if it had the proportions of the photoshopped one above.

The real thing looks like a Chinese knockoff of the rendering :S

Yes. He did the e87, e92.

Agree the e65 was a fail on his part, but he got better with time.

Agreed Audi does not quite drive like a BMW (with at least sports pack), but that the new ones drive like a 1986 Yugo... hmmm?

If I was only interested in form and not content as well, I would be driving a Hyundai Genesis and not be on my third BMW 3 series

At the price level they sell BMWs; BMW owners and potential future owners deserve both form (style) and content.

It's like the Aztec, it may have been supposedly practical as shit... but I think the great majority agree that it was

People that buy cheap cars; care more about value and practicality... then looks.

People that buy more expensive cars (BMW, Mercedes)... usually like the look (some the image), then go look at the interior, then you drive it. After you have driven a few cars... then you can appreciated the quality and the differences.

I will give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar;
BMW +1 for Overall drive feel
BMW +1 on most designs
BMW +1 on quality
BMW +1 on most interiors

This new little porker -10

Don't worry about it; sales and natural selection will take care of it did with the
318ti (Chopped ass)
Acura MDX
Mercedes R Class
Pontiac Aztec

Totally agree. The interior design is real nice and eye-catching. It looks functional without being bland and boring.

The exterior on the otherhand, man, what did they do to the headlight?! Ugh, it looks weird and bizzare, kind of reminds me of how the 5 series GT looked and that design was ugly!

Just a minor correction on the last 7 series, there was no "natural selection" against it, in fact, it was the top-selling 7 series ever. So, don't confuse personal distaste for the E65 and lump it with real sale and design failures like the Aztec. BMW does not give a $%^^@ about critic reviews, they care about the bottom line. And the E65, whatever it's fault, sold like hotcake in it's class. Because had the the last 7 series ended up with sales like the Aztec, there would be no F01 7 series, period.

I know this is BMW forum and all, but even with bmw fanboy sunglasses on, your comment is way too retarded. Please don't embarrass us BMW owners.

Dear BMW,

It's still not too late... most of the design and shape will pass. The are some other not so great parts (like the Polo rip off - rear lights), but you could still fix it before final production.

Since it's plactic or whatever type of non metalic material that now make up the face. Just change those lights and the front bumper and your customers and fans will love you for it.

Please don't officially release this Ugly duckling face on the population of the world. Even us young people want to be inspired.

Please listen, like Toyota has done with the last redesign of the FT-86.

They asked their fans to vote on which face they found the nicest.

Please give it a chance... it's not too late

Agreed on the sales part for the last 7.

It was still hated by most and critiqued to death. You could tell BMW was listening to the "critics" because the most hideous items of the last 7 were softened up with the LCI updates.

I believe it sold, because it did have more presence and technology vs the previous.

BMW does somewhat care about critics, or they would not have so returned more to traditional evolution and style the new 7, Z4 and new 5 the way they did.

I would have never bough a car the size of the 7 series (just looked too big). But the new 7, looks sweet and drives like a smaller car. I would buy it. Same for the new 5.
