My brother is in a similar situation. He is in process engineering but is working 06+ hours a week on a salaried job (~3-4 years of experience and ~90k in the midwest). He has also looked for another job, but has not made the leap yet... he has increased his pay within the same company ~30k over the last 3 years so perhaps he will jump ship when they stop paying to keep him!
Good luck with whatever you do, seems engineers just work a ton of hours on salary in a lot of the positions available.
