Passenger restraint system fault

Hi guys!

Over the weekend I had to take down the glovebox for my 2014 F21 118d.

During this procedure, I disconnected the passenger airbag switch located near the right door hinge.

Although the engine was off, the car instantly displayed the error message "Passenger restraint system fault". I thought it was normal, since I disconnected the airbag switch, and that it will go back to normal once I reconnected the switch.

However, after putting all the stuff back together, the error is still there every time I start the engine. Passenger airbag indicator in the dashboard is also lit.

I am thinking that once the computer recorded this error, it remains displayed (even though the airbag system might be functional), until it is cleared via service software.

Any ideas on how to quickly solve this problem without scheduling a trip to the dealer? Maybe remove/reinstall a certain fuse or disconnect/reconnect the car battery?

This won't help you but perhaps others -- always disconnect the battery before messing with the airbag!

Can confirm the above.

Took a trip today to the cardealer, and they erased the error via OBD.

Take note folks: disconnecting/reconnecting the airbag switch ends up costing EUR 20 )
