118i (f20) vibrations.

Hello everybody!

First post on this forum, would like to ask a question.

Got a 118i 2013, 52k on it.
For several months i have been experiencing rough cold starts that only in the first few seconds rpm is jumping, sometimes when car is idle i feel vibrations but not always, was thinking about plugs injectors or coils, i have used different fuel and added a fuel addon but with littile successes ? Got my car checked they said its nothing but i dont agree.

Does anyone has an idea about it?

Thanks

Rough cold starts are just fine. No way to see if you have an extreme experience. If it's smooth when warmed up it should be all right.

Thank you for the reply.
The vibrations happen specially after the car started but also randomly when the engine is warm and idle (practically when waiting in the traffic light, i would describe it as shivering (like when a person is cold) it lasts for 15-30 seconds and then stops. any idea?

The car is Automatic, I have uploaded a video of a start up, although it is the first start up of the day , the temperature outside was 25c, please notice the RPMs falling and then recovering like the engine is chocking, a missfire?

warning sign is from the door being open.

Mine doesn't do that (the first start up in two days): the arm goes up and then just down to settle, no wagging. Also it settles at lower revs, still above the 1000, but at 0 C outside (!). So you might have an issue that doesn't look severe, though.

Your car's computer is trying to set the lowest stable revs under the "circumstances" and it looks too optimistic at once. If there's a misfire (I don't think there is) or anything detected abnormal, a mistake, the computer must log it to be read at diagnostics. So if "they said its nothing" then it's within allowance, not time to panic yet. If you play with fuel additives, it might be time to examine your spark plugs.

had the car to service again, changed 4 plugs , fueled with the highest octane available fuel in my country...problem is still there, i am getting more and more confident that this might be with dirty injectors, i will try to clean them with STP addative, hoping for a good results...

I use regular 95 octane number fuel only. I wouldn't trust the local 98 (or even "super" 95) to be of any high quality. Hopefully not the case in your country.

Is there anyone else who experiences start up's like this? or it is only me, cause than it will obviously indicate a problem, with the indicator falling and raising like this, and vibrations passing through the car!
