Question about parking sensors
I have parking sensors on my F21 (rear only) and they have turned out to be really annoying in some situations.
If i back into a parking space to wait for someone or for other reasons staying in the car with engine running for a while, I can`t get the annoying sound to stop. I have to actually drive forward to make it shut off. In my E91 which also has rear parking sensors only, the sound stops as soon as I put it in first gear and then I can leave it in neutral with no annoying sound. Since I only have the rear sensor and no trailer hitch I don`t have the button to turn it of manually either. Have any of you got the same problem and have you found a solution to it? (I am sure it can be programmed somehow but the guys at the workshop just say that it can`t because thats easier for them)

Hi!
I have exactly the same problem. Have had the car for 3 days, so it haven't started to annoy me yet. Doesn't seem to be a solution for this, or? |

As far as I've read: no. F30 users are also complaining. Pretty stupid eh? Hopefully it can be fixed in software.
But if you have front PDC you can at least shut it up with the button on the center console. That stupid button is the primary reason why I specced front PDC.

If I had known about this I would have ordered the front sensors as well just to get the button. But didn`t think they had altered how it worked compared to earlier BMW`s.
They have probably done it as a part of "efficient dynamics", reducing emissions through making us stop the engine..

I have just had a loan BMW while mine was having a service, I too found this annoying until I moved the idrive controller left and it cancels the rear parking sensor activation. I have front and rear on mine so have the magic button.
I hope this helps you all out. |

Same here, noticed this last saturday. I have the auto-gearbox and I noticed the following:
When I switch from Reverse to Drive, the beeping continues. If I switch to Neutral, the beeping continues. If I switch to Park, the beeping stops. Not sure if there is anything equivalent for the manual gearbox but at least for us auto-gearboxers we have a fix |

As said by others, if you have an Auto you're lucky as moving through the gears disables it - if you have a manual then the only way is to turn the engine off, which is a right royal pain in the arse!! |
