I bought a Porsche Cayman GT4! [VIDEO]

So you guys mostly know me from my Bimmerpost reviews and videos, and while I adore BMW, I also love Porsche. My last car before the GT4 was a 997.1 GT3 and I picked up my new GT4, ordered in my spec, a few months ago. I'm loving it so far! It's fast, extremely grippy, full of feel and sound and character with a brilliant gearbox and a laser guided chassis. I am having a lot of fun with in this car!

I want to share some of my experiences of the new car with you and here are a few videos I've put together on my own youtube channel.

I'll whet your appetite with some powerslides, acceleration and sounds from my first track day at The Ridge Motosports Park, one of my new favorite tracks.

Then you can check out my full commentary video from that first track day. I talk about the track day experience and what it was like to drive my GT4 for the very first time on a track.

And finally, here is an on road first drive review which I made immediately after I got my car. I talk about my options and why I spec'd my GT4 the way I did and share some general ownership impressions. This was before break in was complete and I had to take it gently.

Anyway, hope you enjoy these and find them informative. I will be doing a few more GT4 videos as the driving season enters full swing and may even consider doing an M2 vs. GT4 comparison if I can get my hands on an M2 again! Is that something people would like to see?

M2 vs GT4 comparo would be awesome!

GT4 and 911-R are my two favorite P-cars at the moment. You're a lucky guy!

Hova, I echo others in that you've got a great stable! I love the S1kRR! Is that the most recently updated one?

991GT3, nice Sapphire Blue GT3 you've got!

gtron, slavik, hellokitty, hopkins58, shocknawe, hyewarrior: thanks fellas.

Looks like BMWs and Porsches tend to share the same garages... lots of P-car enthusiasts on here I see.

New to the track and to the car. I have no idea, I wasn't timing but from the footage it's hovering close to the 2min mark at noon when I did most of my filming.

I found a lot more time when Herrick in a Guards Red GT4 showed me around later in the afternoon. It's all about momentum at The Ridge!

Do you go there?

Thanks Sam. Your Guards red Gt4 is equally impressive. Guess great minds think alike. lol

My S1KRR is a 2016 and is obviously the fastest one in my garage.

Sam congrats on the GT4. Also want to say I appreciate your videos. Nice and thorough.

I wish I can get a GT4 or Spyder but I have tried many dealers in Canada even before it was announced but could not get my hands on one. I am now trying to get the 718 version but looks like I won't be able to get one. Seems like you have to be a great customer and have previous Porsche record to be even considered getting one.

The resident Bimmerpost press release car reviewer got a Porsche. That should tell you something.

Doesn't surprise as I get the feeling from your reviews, you like a visceral and involving car. BMW doesn't seem to want to produce such a car at the moment.

A huge part of their decision making IMHO is whether you have a vaulable ie profitable for resale trade-in vehicle. I offered them my 997.1 GT3 and I believe that's the only reason I was able to get one.

What you say is insightful but I would honestly spend my own hard earned on an M2. I do consider it a visceral driving experience especially when the M2 is on the limit. If I could afford another sports car, I would want an M2 in my garage next to the GT4. Oh, and a Shelby GT350 as well.
