Amazing! Thanks for sharing!

On a separate note, I have made a decision to buy the Cayenne S E-Hybrid. Especially after seeing the guts of the 918 powertrain, of which the Panamera and Cayenne SEH are based off, the technological innovation that is involved to make it all work is amazing.

Interesting!

Try to read the book 'project 928` written by an auto motor und sport journalist that followed the development of the car from the start and documented it. The book is crazy expensive on eBay, but it is possible to download it as pdf.

I'm so lucky to own a 928, but recommend for all with interest in cars.

The Porsche Club of America's UpFix'ing books also contain a lot of good info from Porsche's R&D. Like how the 928 first started out as a 5.0 liter V8, but "the board" thought the car would be too fast, and encroach on 911 sales. So they de-tuned it to 4.5 liters! There was lots of interesting things like different engines Porsche tested and all.

Thank you, will check it out!

Even though I'm a hard-core BMW fan I find the 928 a fascinating car. Everytime I look at it I think of that it's incredible that it was designed over 40 years ago. Truly timeless design.

Cool. You know about the two, four door 928 S4's that Porcche's Werks Dept made for Ferry's Birthday and later Piech wanted one too. Much like the 914/8 (flat air cooled eight cylinder) from 20 years earlier.

I have only seen pictures of it. I'm going to the Porsche museum in July, hopefully the transaxle exhibition is still on so I can see it live!

The transaxle exhibit runs from April 27th until October 16h, 2016

Also in Berlin at the VW Forum Porsche will show - from March 18 to June 12, 2016: “Fascination Sports Cars. - The Future of Performance.” in Berlin.

Btw... this four door 928 does bounce around the German museum circuit. I've seen it in Schloss Langenberg and also in Sinsheim in the past. Maybe you will have some luck and it will sill be on display at the P-Museum.

Enjoy your stay.

At Schloss Langenburg I saw this semi production test mule they had on display. No where near as cool at the pre-perproduction test mules at the Porsche Museum... but they are still cool to look at!

Boris Becker owned a 959 at the ripe ol' age of 17. Its been rumored that he would drive it at 300 kph, on the Italian Autostrada back in the day!

Porsche actually made two 959 models. A "base" model and an S. The S had hotter cams with made slightly more power on the top end.
