Screen wash question and software update
Ok couple of questions.
First my screenwash light came on. Bought screenwash, opened cap on left hand side of engine bay and there is a plastic cover that looks like it'll stop anything going through. Not like a filter but a piece of plastic. Has anyone else got this? I'm wondering whether its soothing that wasn't taken off when I picked it up? Or is it a filter and I'm ok to pour the wash into it? Also tried to update the software on telematics earlier. Got stuck on 89% for about 30mins. Should I just leave it or is there an issue? Comments esp on screen wash would be great? Thanks |

Its not a filter. Its completely closed and tbh I'm not 100% sure what its there for. Maybe to stop the washer fluid from foaming to much as you pour it in?!?
The fluid goes down thru a tube on the side of the filler, check it out its on the LH side as you stand in front of the car(looking AFT). |

they are a total pig to fill up. I use a plastic filter can that has a long small bendy end. even with that it's a nightmare. anyone come up with a solution better than this yet?

I buy washer fluid in a flexible plastic bag. This way I can pinch it closed and easily regulate the flow when pouring it in. I don't spill a single drop

Mine has nothing! I fill it up in a few seconds....maybe it is a new thing (mine was among the first F20's produced) or maybe it was removed by my dealer?

hmm thats interesting fanis, I also got my car somewhat early but I got that annoying filter-thingie covering the whole area where you fill up. Takes ages to fill up, have to poor real slow.
One day I'll take a knife and cut a proper hole =) |

I filled my screenwash up last night, there isnt a filter over mine. Its just a very shallow area that you pour into, which has the actual hole leading to the reservoir off to one side. The 'shallow area' that you pour into has bumps on the base and it has a slight wedge on one side. It still takes an age to fill, and more annoyingly it is difficult to tell how full the main reservoir is as its hidden away, until it backs up and overflows!
On a side note, does anyone elses car stop the rear washer from working once the dashboard warning comes on? It then regains functionality after the warning disappears. Such a pain, especially since the front ones still work fine - more so with the F20 being a hatchback the rear window gets covered in road filth rather quickly! |

I filled mine the other day for the first time in 6 months, the tank must be huge!!
I did double take when I saw the filler spout, I thought "well that's bound to go wrong" but does the trick |

I would love to speed up the refill-process. Gotta love it during wintertime standing there in the blistering cold (usually in the dark) with wind + snow blowing in your face while the hands are so cold you can't feel them no more and just keep pooring slooooowly sloooowly =) I've had to fill up every other week, if not every week during the miserable winter-slush-period. I find the tank too small, seem to be around 3.5-4L? but then again, no matter how big it was, it woul still be too small. A 300litre tank on the roof or something would be just about right |
