IRON FIST (Netflix Series)
Loved the comic and the character. I have high hopes for this!
Although not completely sold on main character playing just yet...

Yea - definitely a tie in to Dr. Strange and the 'mystical' side of Marvel here...

Watched a few episodes since yesterday. Here's my quick review.
- first half of episode one was good but then dragged out too long - the rest of the show thus far seems to follow suit; many scenes were dragged out unnecessarily - some of the dialogue started getting cheesy; reminds me of Luke Cage - action sequences are decent. Definitely not as fluid or believable as such movies as Ip Man or Crouching Tiger. Some scenes looked so choppy it made me chuckle; once again reminds me of Luke Cage - overall I'm a bit disappointed in the show. They try to add drama to the show but end up making is a bit cheesy. Just as with Luke Cage, I will watch it because I'm curious how it plays out but I'm not totally engaged or crazy about it. In fact, I had it on in the background while studying for a state exam. |

My wife binge-watched this weekend on her iPad. I cuddled up to watch a few scenes here and there, but I think there was an episode of Nakked and Fraid or a hockey game on, so didn't watch.

I finished watching the series. I did not like Danny one bit...I think this show is horribly written. The only aspect of the show I thought I would enjoy because it reminded me a little of Oliver Queen was how Ward was trying to prevent Danny from claming his shares (ownership of company). The whole I need my company back act was way tooo cheesy...which didnt even matter because Danny gave zero fucks about the company anyways.
The "Super Hero" aspect of the series is awful...you have a guy who trained with monks for 15 years with ZERO discipline, easily fooled, etc. I cant stop comparing Danny to Oliver Queen which I think is another reason for my disliking of the series. |

I was really looking forward to this series and it's a letdown. I mena this dude is Iron Fist, champion warrior of Kunlun yet he sucks ass at fighting. Only saving grace is Madame Gao who is just cool. The Colleen girl can't do shit with her practice sword. What's she gonna do when there's 20 men? Throw them all down one by one? Didn't get why he needed his company back either. Show started off showing him living as a minimalist and saying I don't need the money. Next thing you know he lives in a giant penthouse and drives an Aston...and wtf was up with the "drunken" British fighter. Looks so freaking lame (the stance was just so damn cheesy I couldn't stand it). What I don't get is why shows like this get such great reviews on Netflix. 5*, really? Netflix needs to hire some good writers and director or just stop making Marvel series in general. Just horrible. Last edited by BMW F22; 03-20-2017 at 10:13 AM.. |

I started watching it because I thought just maybe I would get a story that had elements of Oliver Queen in it but then Danny has a penthouse and drives an Aston 4 ep's later. Not a fan of Colleen either...feels like I'm watching a soap opera when shes around. In the next season or the one after he will probably be a full blown "vigilante". Maybe if this released before the Arrow I would have a different opinion but Oliver Queen's character is hard to top. What I like about Queen is that despite being good @ fighting/using with a bow he battles a lot of personal/internal problems with his life, not just the riches, but trying to be a decent human being. Being a good brother, son, friend means a lot to Oliver....this Danny guy legit just wants to punch holes through walls and gather Chi every other episode. Not saying that the Arrow is perfect but they did a better job with it. |

When you make a show like this, you better cast someone in the lead who has some sort of fighting background. Finn Jones doesn't, and you can tell. It's not terrible, but if you're expecting some badass kung fu like IP Man you're going to be disappointed.

A big let down indeed...
This WAS Not the correct casting, especially for the lead! I am a HUGE fan of MARVEL but I am noticing a horrible trend with their TV series. The worst BEING LEGION on F/X. I didn't even start a thread for that whack ass show. It is like watching someone on a bad acid trip, trapped in the 70s. Waaaaaaay too much drama and very little action. I had high hopes since it's "unrated". Epic fail. |

tbh only Daredevil was good
Jessica Jones & Luke Cage was so so, so I didn't have high hopes going into Iron Fist. Legion is just weird, but I'll still watch it. Just like AOS, it's not good, but I'll still watch it, because every so often there'd be a good episode. I'm hoping American Gods will be good.

It's not terrible, but not great either. From what I've read the critics have their panties in a bunch because it's another rich, entitled, white guy superhero.
After watching the season 2 premier of Into The Badlands the other night, Iron Fist seems tame, tepid and slow moving by comparison.

Just started watching this, though not familiar with the comic book characters. I like it so far. Though with any long running series, it can get stale after a few episodes where everything just feels the same, the good versus the evil. Not to give any spoilers away, but there has been some progress in the story but still getting that story never ends monotony of any series.
