Upgrading Stereo speakers to HK

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Just found the speaker part numbers for HK audio. Quite a pricey doo as you could imagine- but may be worth getting one rear mid-range to test if it actually works before getting any more of it.

I think i'd probably upgrade the front mids and add the tweeters..

Tweeters: £97.68 inc VAT
Window sills for tweeters: £49.20 inc VAT
Mid-Ranges: £128.36 inc VAT
Total: £275.24 inc VAT

The next step will be to buy the blaupunkt P&P amplifier

i'll certainly upgrade the rears- they will be easy- the question is how much more quality will i get out of them with the headunit driving the music. i think adding tweeters will give the biggest difference.

Ok we have established I’m a car audio noob, but, the speakers with the prof unit are 25w a speaker. So, could i just swap them out for plug and play ones that are say, 100w.

What is the likley results of doing this? The setup is still fundamentally same so no recoding would be needed? I've just got more power.

Basically, the main problem i have with the current set up is if you turn it up (with the bass set reasonably high in the iDrive) it gets distorted, so if i could fix this just be swapping out the 4 speakers, that would be enough for me i think, and i would save £££!

I wonder how much improvement can it give if only adding the HK tweeters.
Btw, I find the lots of F20 accessories and alpine, HK speakers and housing on Taobao. Yes, sellers from China so i have doubt about it authenticity too but from the pictures of the products, the items seem authentic.

I 've shipped some Alpine or tweeter kits to TW already.
The HK unit requires a even more powerful AMP, in which cases, the HK amp. It is pricey and not cheap to fit. It also requires a coding job.

Alpine is the choice for both quality and money.

Any of this been tried then? I have the Business Loudspeaker package and thinking of swaping the door mids and rears for HK ones. Also want to add tweakers as suggested. Would these just plug into the HK door speakers? Or is there more to it than that?

As good as the H/K is in the 1, in the 3 is comes with 16 speakers instead of 12 and 625w instead of 350w. So remember it will be a better system. (Yes 1 owners are getting screwed because the h/k upgrade in the 3 only costs a little more than it does in the 1!)
