"14 power LEDs": I wonder if it really should read "14 power" LEDs or 14 "power(?) LEDs" - an addition for corner lighting (no fog lights on M140i)? |

It would make sense to have more LEDs to control where the light is going. But I doubt that all 14 are used at the same time during normal driving. Probably 8 or so. |

Thanks for posting the specs. Interestingly, the specs available in Hungary calls out 8 LEDs for both LED and Adaptive LED headlights - no difference for M140i. So I guess it could be an Australia specific option? I would be disappointed but if that were the case but also view it as a ray of hope that maybe I could get it upgraded to 14 LEDs somehow. Erik |

Let us know what you find out about your inner lights... The fog lights on the non-Ms are in the grill below and they double as cornering lights. Since the M140i/M135i don't have the fog lights in the grills, maybe the main headlight units are different from the non-Ms? Erik |

And just incidentally here's the official Australian link: http://www.bmw.com.au/en/all-models/...ion_guide.html (notice the guide is scrolled within the browser window separately). |

That is really odd. If you "Build your own" 1 series on the UK site, and pick LED headlights or Adaptive LED headlights from the "Optional equipment", regardless of whether you are building an M140i or a non-M, and you click on "Details" for the option, it will spec 8 LEDs, not 14. Clearly, there is inconsistency regarding the number of LEDs. I wonder which is true now but I'm a bit afraid that it is 8 LEDs for all 1 series. (For the 3 series, they list 10 LEDs in the "Details" description.) |

Halos
Sorry for taking this thread a bit out of line...
But have any of you noticed a difference in colour in the rings (DRL)? There is a clear difference on my 118D F20 LCI. Left side is bright white/blue where as the right one is more "green/yellow-ish". I mentioned it at the shop when i was there for an oil change. They also noticed it and have brought it up with BMW. Still waiting for an answer. Apparently you need to replace to whole head light and not just the LED-bulb ( which i have done on a couple of E91īs) |

Why don't you just post a picture/video of your headlights light spot for those who admire theirs to compare? Like this: Last edited by No one; 01-03-2017 at 07:44 AM.. |

Good idea. Here is a pic of the light output. Inside the red circle, find the dark spot. Because it is Adaptive LED the light, and the dark spot with it, move as the steering wheel moves. I find it very distracting. Erik |

Quite a nice light. Mine's no better I reckon, maybe a bit worse, but it's hard to tell as I drive on lit streets/highway. Regarding the dark spot, it looks like the compliment for an oncoming driver: if you had halogen everything would be that dark that far, I guess.

That dark spot is only there when below 50km/h. Above that speed, the left side light projects more forward than to the side and so it closes up and eliminates the spot. If it were there to be easy on oncoming drivers, I'd have to think it would always be there. Regarding it being brighter than halogen, unfortunately that is not the case. When I drive on the highway and cars pass me, their light patterns on the road almost always dominate mine, including newer halogens - which I think is a shame and that is what frustrates me the most. I will shoot a video next week to show what I'm talking about. Erik |
