I was pumping gas last night, and a kid with a 745 asked me where I got my BMW worked on; I wasn't much help, as my X1 hasn't need much besides (warranty) wiper blades. He had this older Bimmer, in pretty presentable shaped, but the heater core was leaking (I could see some mist on the inside of the windshield). I told him the old saw about most cars being built around the heater core, which didn't much amuse him. I suggested a local shop who might work on it. In any case, I wish him well, but it's a case of buying a car with your heart rather than your head. That, and a V12 rear drive in Westsylvania winter time....
