Model Deletion

Hey all,

after seeing a bunch of F20s with model deletion, i now found myself wishing i'd taken the free model deletion option.

Anyone ever asked the dealer to de-badge for you?

They told me if you change your mind they can easily take it off when the car arrives by blowing hot air on it

A hot hairdryer helps to soften the adhesive. The badge can be lifted by working some fishing line/dental floss between the badge and the car to help separate the two. Any residual adhesive can be cleaned off with methylated spirit.

The dealer accidentally put mine on despite specing it as de-badged... took them about 30 seconds to rectify it

Just ask them to remove it before delivery.

I always order without badge, it gives the car a cleaner look.
But I ask to get the badge separately, as a decoration for the garage (or the living room if you are a geek!).

I don't mind having 116i on my car- which is why I didn't have it removed at factory- but your right, it looks much cleaner without.

However, I know I'll get flamed for hiding the engine, as it's the entry engine

I am now thinking that I should have specified model deletion when I ordered. I have a sneaky suspicion that the dealer will be receiving an email from me.

Since I will be driving the car on tracks now and then, I like to show the other cars that I have the weakest engine. Always more fun to pass other cars when they can see that.
