Info on radio (title song etc - RDS)
All, isn't there a view in "radio" mode which shows the RDS information radio stations send, like the artist and title of the song playing etc?

There is on my 2008 Tiguan RDS (not DAB) radio. I was surprised when I found it...thought that was a DAB facility only.

RDS text had been around as long as RDS itself. It's a part of the system. The textinfo is sent parallel with the sound. Almost like text TV is transmitted along wiith TV programs.
An outdated and limited technology

I know it's not as versatile as DAB, but it helps when you are listening to something and think, "What's the name of this tune/artist"? as long as the selection for the display is readily accessible, of course.

Indeed! And it isn't!?
I find it a little sad there isn't a normal clean Radio view with the name of the station, the extra radio info, and f.e. the temperature, hour and date. If you stay in the Radio menu, the view is practical but uggly. I switch on the Nav, even if I don't use it, simply for the view. But without the extra info :-( Edit: I have a radio without DAB |
