Death by cop.

If there is no goal (political, religious, ideological, etc) then it doesn't fit the definition of 'terrorism'

there most certainly can be domestic terrorists/terrorism, but so far we don't have motivation for this guy, but it is very early.

Indeed. I can see the reasoning to that. I suppose only in time will more info will be revealed so we can see a clearer picture.

To this question, yes, unfortunately. We have had gangs here for the longest, which have killed perhaps in the millions, but we consider them "local" issues, or civil issues. Yet these same thugs terrorize the neighborhoods that inhabit them. Damn, call them terrorists, and deal with them. But yes, we can build a wall to keep terrorist "out" and in the end we just protect the ones we have here.

This may be the watershed moment for gun control activists. Given the nature of the massacre, even gun rights supporters have to admit that stricter gun control could have prevented the massacre (not saying it definitely would have, but it's > 0%), but looser gun control definitely could not have prevented it or stopped it.

Edit: In fact, looser gun control might have made it worse; imagine if everyone at the concert was carrying. One guy pulls out his gun to defend himself, and everyone else thinks he's the shooter. The stampede alone apparently injured about 500. Can you imagine a stampede of 20,000 armed people? From now on, every time a gun rights supporter says "Guns saves lives because everyone can now defend themselves," a gun control activist will say, "How about Las Vegas?"

Obviously, the argument looks at this event in isolation, but that is how it's going to be viewed.

This isn't about politics, terrorism, or gun control. This is a sick, evil individual who apparently was able to modify his guns to become fully automatic. The question that will come up as how he was able to modify his gun(s). And I think you'll see metal detectors at the elevator banks at all the Vegas hotels.

No reason was specified.

Date the ban will be lifted: Never
First, does not surprise me many people have no tolerance when it comes the gun conversation, next, what is your fixation with cars, you know way more people are killed in car accidents.

it was easy to hate what you do not understand.

You're probably right, but it's human nature to rationalize everything, and then problem-solve it. For instance: we have to take our shoes off at the airport gate security because Richard Reid tried to conceal a bomb in his shoes (which ultimately failed in any case) in 2001. Random one-off act that resulted into over-regulation. But that's human nature.

Listen closer, you can here the non-repetitive of the finger pulls, it is not like how the military are taught to shot 3 to 5 round busts then a pause, The guy dump 20 round and then long pause. It was not full auto if it was you would barely hear each crack of the round, but you can hear each round and the time between varied. and Automatic can not do that. Full auto is 750 to 900 rounds a minute you would not hear the individual rounds, 1 one second pull is 10 to 12 rounds.

The media always want it to me a fully automatic weapon since they can not think a semi auto can be fired all that fast, even semi auto you can dump 20 round in under 10 sec.

That's how we try to protect the masses I suppose. Once an idea is revealed, others might follow suit so the authorities must react and prevent. It'll be extremely silly if the shoe bomb failed, was publicized and then one does succeed right after that. People would question why there wasn't any preventative action since it has come to light. As the saying goes, "Better safe then sorry."

When we had our first and second school shooting here in Finland, we handled the investigations, grieved, then had some serious talks.

I agree completely, this is not a time for politics. I got a ton of shit for mentioning rt and palls pushing the Isis line (which is mentioned by others too, but in a different light). I did not mean to politicize this, i wanted people to realize the fear is being manipulated.

Over fifty people died.

That's one impressive trigger finger if he had fired it in that fashion for 10-15 minutes. There's a lot of resistance on a trigger unless his was modified which isn't out of the question.

Honestly, your politicizing of this matter only gave a few people, on these forums, a butthurt. But this idiot... Yeah, she just went overboard, and I'm not even a Republican.

I honestly thought people should know how it is being used. I used the right wing wrong, i had at the time i checked seen it only in rt, and nypost and palls.

I apologize for giving the impression.

Yeah. I read that. If she thinks she's a liberal, she needs meds.

On a bit of the flip side to all this response to a deranged (evil) individual, my daughter was just a few blocks away when this happened. Saw the police and ambulances flying by. She said this morning there are long lines of people standing for hours to be able to donate blood. And some of the folks when finished donating, went to local stores and bought water and food for the people still standing in line. She also mentioned that large numbers of civilians used their personal vehicles to transport wounded to local hospitals because there were not enough police cars and ambulances to handle the number. I guess its just good to hear SOME positive news out of this tragedy.

Not sure if this has been discussed but this woman may be crazy. I wouldn't wish that tragedy on anyone including animals.

LOL, did you even read that poorly written article? It mentioned one thing "Trump" has done, and it was also backed by a lot of senators and the Civil Liberties Union because the description of "Mental Illness" was poorly defined and would lead to less people getting help for mental illnesses they may have.

He either modified his weapons or had a bump stock. No way he was shooting like that otherwise. It took time and planning. And we need to see motivation before conclusions. Bottomline hes an ass the world is better without, but its a shame he didnt just off himself and had to hurt all those people first. Coward and a true loser.
