Looks interesting and will certainly attract a younger demographic to the brand. The more competition in the sector the better as will encourage all to continue to innovate.

Looks like it has a pretty major body kit on it, no way that's the standard car! I bet that's a 30k+ AMG version so a fair comparison would be the M135i.

Creds for designing the best A class so far. The base version will not have the same sporty touch though. Still a nice design.
Remember this is a FWD car. When you see the profil you can imagine how front heavy it is. Look at the large overhang and imagine where they put the engine. Not behind the front axle no. See for yourself: http://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/b...toshow_item=21 But not too bad, regarding coming from a company known for building grandpa cars. Actually quite good.

Indeed images above of AMG model. Interestingly there will be an Urban and Style models too. Some more details here:
http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/News/Search-Results/First-Official-Pictures/Mercedes-A-class-at-the-2012-Geneva-motor-show/ Impressive drag coefficient of 0.26 and iPhone integration seems more promising than the 1 series. On the negative side fwd, too many dash buttons. A tad egg shaped. Still prefer it to dull new A3. |

Sounds like a Merc kind of price point to me. That's 30k basically for a decent one.

We all no how the ordinary consumer makes his priorities, so he will possibly prefer the A class. I buy cars out of enthusiasm, with my heart and with my brain, so I will never contribute to a potential success of the A class

Allthough I hate the FWD concept, I am really curious about what BMW can get out of it. Hmmmm....... Worried......

Saw it yesterday in Geneva, it looks really awesome in person. I'm definitely not a Mercedes fan, but after many years they brought a model which I liked at first sight. It looks beautiful from all corners... front, rear, side, interior, they really did a good job.

The interior nav display is like someone just hang a Garmin like navigation device. Also, the retro style round air ducts inside i don't think they match the exterior futuristic lines. Exterior looks nice though. Now i don't know how much elevated is the driving position compared to the old one. If it's on the same height as the old one, then it's not for me..

It looks like the true rival for this one will be the FWD BMW 1-series GT Model . Check the photos on the relative thread for the FWD BMW 1-series GT Model.

This is indeed a pretty car. Opel GTC was a pretty looking car. Peugeot RCZ is also a pretty looking car, etc. I don't think though that everybody buy a car just because of its looks. Especially Bimmer fans, i believe, know this very well. As to the the question if bmw can kick this, i believe it can.

That can't be right. B class begins at 21k, so presume 19/20k start.

Mercedes is the front wheel drive, f20 will have no problems running better than merc A. form and appearance is taste.

Besides the F20 design takes time to mature, while the A class is easier likeable from day 1. The BMW might still have a modern look in 7 years, while the Merc might look outdated. Time will show
