Hello from San Diego! Just Purchased 07' 335i..HELP!
Hey what's goin on my name is Mike just purchased an 07' e90 335i alpine white/black/premium/sport/heated seats/navigation/cpo/77xxx. I have a daily driver 00' e46 323i stock with 20" tis wheels and a clarion 7" in dash monitor and 15% tint all around. Also have a 94' civic hatchback with an acura tsx 2.4l and a t66 turbo for the drags and an occasional freeway run. I been lurking on this site for awhile now.Gathering info and researching the e90. You guys are awesome!! I love forums! And especially you guys! This site is why we decided the e90 335i So onto the car, I searched for 2 months to find the white on black with the options we wanted.Found it from a broker in Los Angeles 11/23 Talked prices made the deal and arranged the delivery to my door the next day 11/24 For inspection and test drive. I seen many detailed photos via email prior to negotiation. So it arrives about 5pm signed all the paper work(gave half down and financed half through our bank) and drove it home.packed our bags and We came out to Palm Springs for the holiday about 150 miles from home. Drove the car about 160 miles at this point. So I get up this morning to go for a cruise and floor it for the FIRST time and it pulled nice till about 90-100 and I get the 'engine malfunction' half orange symboll...wtf?! My heart drops!! Haven't owned the car for 24hrs and this?! The first time I floor it I pulled over and shut her down waited 5 minutes re started and it seems to be fine. I jus party to god I didn't hurt anything. My stomachs still in knots! The dealer gave me a 30 day warranty. And it has cpo. Could be the hpfp, misfire, or I seen fuel level but it was half full.So what should I do? I can put a hold on the financing check to the dealer. But I don't want to stir up comotion if it's something small, but then again I paid a nice amount for this beauty.Ant help would be greatly appreciated! Thnx Mike

If it's CPO then take it in. Mine did that with the Procede, but never came back after taking it out.

My guess is HPFP if not whatever is wrong should be covered under the CPO warranty. I would not worry too much about it. I had a problem on my first road trip when I bought my car. I was really upset but the BMW dealership made every worry go away. The service departments are usually excellent. You will love owning your 335.

No way of really know what the problem is without scanning. However, having been through two hpfp myself, I say nothing to worry about if it's CPO. The dealer will have you up in running in no time. Expect one full day including replacement and updates. It's an awesome car otherwise....enjoy. Ohh, and you didn't hurt anything...the light comes on and shuts down stuff for ya.

i'd make sure CPO is still valid (could be a previously modded car that had it's CPO cancelled on it)... since it seems you purchased it from a non-bmw dealer.
i'd call a bmw dealer to confirm it's active, and if it is, you got no worries, otherwise consider holding the check

Thanks for all the replies guys, made me fell a whole lot better. I called BMW today and ran the vin for service records. Come to find out the HPFP has been replaced 4 times!! Asked the guy about the 'recall' and he said he's not certain theirs an official recall yet,but!...bmw is well aware of the HPFP issue, yada yada and BMW warranties the replaced pump till 120k. I set up an appt. To drop off the car monday morning for diagnostics and confirmed they have a loaner program. The SA advised me it would be ok to drive my car home the 140 miles as long as it's not in 'limp mode'. He also stated that the car is covered till 100k on maintenance only. Asked if he can give me the last 3 digits of the pump but he bs'd me and said it doesn't come up.Im hoping it has the 943 pump but who knows. Held the finance check till tuesday jus to be safe. I believ this car falls into the buy back program or some kind of law since it's been replaced 4 times excluding the original.Thats 5 pumps in 77,xxx miles. I just don't want to get rid of it. I waited months to find it,and I love it besides that 1 issue!

If the car is CPO'ed you shouldn't have maintenance until 100k, you should have a warranty until 100k and you have to pay for your own maintenance. Are you sure they said it doesn't have warranty? If it doesn't, that's a huge issue.

it's less than 60k miles but this guy is probably the 3rd owner of the vehicle in which the 2nd owner bought it CPO'd and it carried on to OP after 2nd guy sold it.

Thanks for all the advise, its now all coming together! I bought the car from a broker who I'm almost 95% positive he got it from an auction.Hence the buy back program. I found the car on autotrader.com and the ad clearly said CPO till 2012 or 100k. So I believe he wronged me there.Thas the one of the main selling points for me.I passed up many 335's cause they didn't have the CPO. And like most dealers on at.com have a carfax link this vehicle didn't. When I asked for it via email or fax he said they couldn't due to a lawsuit or some bs,and assured me it was a clean carfax and it was included in the paperwork with the purchase agrement. So i basically I couldn't see it till the car arrived.Should of clicked right there, but I was so excited I didn't think anything of it.As when the car arrived I inspected it test drove it,smashed the gas a few times and nothing but pure joy!! Didn't dawn to look for the carfax in all the paperwork.Still not sure if it's in there as the paper works at home in san diego and I'm out of town .e92murdered yes I plan on taking it to bmw of san diego, any advice?i honestly though of keeping the car if they had a FOR SURE hpfp fix.Or stupid idea?!

Found the carfax on their website. Procarbuyers.com under used inventory on the second page and it's the second car.He edited the ad cause it said CPO till 2012 and now it says full transferable maint. Till 2012. He also edited the price 2k.The carfax say manufactures maint. On two occasions which I believe is the hpfp? Last one was on 10/18 .But the SA at bmw told me it was replaced 4 times?! That's weird,do they HAVE to report it everytime to carfax or whoever tracks that stuff? It also jus had a maint. insp. On 11/3 by Mckenna BMW of Norwalk,CA I'm guessing right before they sent it to auction. what the hell should I do?

Im sorry i didn't read through all the posts thoroughly but are you 100% sure its the HPFP?
When i was driving out to B.C. my engine malfunction light came on and it was yellow and half shaded in, the car also had ZERO power. I immediately pulled over and called my dealer. Turns out the gas cap wasn't screwed on properly and the light hasn't come on since. |

The SA says he doesn't no anything about HPFP recall...... That's three strikes in a row; he has a chance to get out of this legally and in a fair manner. I would get my money back and roll. Last edited by LagMode335i; 11-27-2010 at 07:31 PM.. Reason: gr |

update,so I talked with the private dealer and a bmw. The cars was a lease, after the lease it had to many miles to put on the lot so it went to auction. The title is clean and clear of and brands lemon salvage theft.I also requested an aftermarket warranty till 120k.Either he pays for it or it's deducted off the loan. Were working on it as we speak. The SA read me all the reports and the only issue this vehicle has ever has is the hpfp (replaced 4 times!) and he confirmed the 933 pump was last installed on 10/26.And is covered 10y/120k Crossing my fingers! I feel good with the decision,as long as the we work out the warranty. My credit union offers one so if his doesn't work out he's gonna have to pay for my own.Im confident that BMW will come out with a final fix on the hpfp issue, especially with the official recall. If not someone will. Thanks for all the replies!
