The best utilitarian, pound for pound, dollar for dollar, car BMW makes and they don't bring it to North America. I refuse to buy a GTI/ or any other hatch back/FWD.
Hence why i also refuse to buy anything new from BMW. I'll stick with my E46's for now. BMW you SUCK for not bring this 4 door hatch here.

The M2 is gonna be judgement day for me...or GT350/R here i come.

Looks like a lowered X1. I have an alpine white sport line, with coral red leather. Looks very similar....just sits a little higher.

Hope you already have your name on a list. From what I've heard at the NY auto show, the GT350R is limited to a production of 500 units and you could bet on a large portion of those are already accounted for. Plus dealers will probably throw a ridiculous markup. A Hellcat by me had a dealer charged of $30k over sticker.

But who wants a big, heavy 3/4-series when you can have an F20/F21?
The difference in weight is not that much

Let's just hope they've improved the interior finish and materials as well in the post-LCI version. The current model was quite bad in this respect (your average Golf/ Audi A3 were better made, had softer/slightly rubbery plastics which were much nicer to the touch, more comfortable seats especially in the back and were quieter inside when on the move).

The LCI truly makes the 1er look more grown up and serious, and finally the front lights aren't as laughable as before. Even thought the rears weren't that bad, I find the new ones to be much nicer.

Can't wait to hear from the first owners of the revised 1er what's the experience with driving the car and improvements to the cabin. If BMW decided to bring the quality level up a notch or two, they have a winner.

I think the pre facelift 1 series has pretty good quality feel in the interior, and that it is rather quiet. In my work, I drive similar size cars of various brands, and they are all inferior, except for the Audi/VW, which are also very good at this. The BMW handles better, though!

Anyway, to justify its premium positioning and the vivid following that BMW wants to enjoy (eg. from people like us on this forum), they at least should aspire to set their bar for quality above the level of what the competition offers. Particularly this regards Audi/VW/Volvo/M-B.

I don't want BMW to overdo the interior stuff, as I want BMW to be the more sporty premium brand. The cars are already rather heavy. Trying to beat Audi on noise levels and interior feel would add another 50 kg. I would prefer if they kept the level acceptable, and got rid of 50 kg.

They could use quality plastic and materials instead of cheap hard noisy stuff without making the car too heavy

I sometimes work in the factories where they make stuff like dashboards for German premium cars. They do not consist of plastic. There are multiple layers of metal, glue and rubber and a rather complex process involved in making them, with various flaming and coating. And they are heavy.

Thanks for looking out, not worried about the 500 units allocated. Lucky me, i know a very wealthy older gentlemen from Shelby Michigan. He is very close with Ford....I make a phone call, he makes a phone call, I arrive at his home and pick up my car.....I may have to settle for a Gt350, due to my finances. Now, i only wish i had "pull like that" with BMW or other German makes.

I just ordered my m135 in alpine white. Time to get rid of my e46 325 which is my DD. Now I just have the wait. At least I have the M5 in the meantime.

Ordered a F21 135i in EB ,due in Nov to replace my ageing 335i. Used to have an E46 M3 but pure M cars just too much cash here the in UK.135i seems to give best value for BHP.
