New M-sport steeringwheel on the 1 series?

When I configure a new 1-series I see that the m-sport steeringwheel look different. Like this:

Anyone know when this came out? If it is out yet?

Really like that steering wheel. Much nicer looking than the one in my 2012 build.

This is down right annoying. Seems every year they add something much nicer to the F20. First they upgraded the iDrive/navi, now the steering wheel...Whats coming next year?

I just got my f20 m-sport 2014 build in february, which I was extremely satisfied with. Now they come up with this bullsh*it...gimme a break

Personally I don't like it at all. I much prefer what I have in my F21 M-Sport.

Whats there not to like about this one? For one it lets you see the instrument panel much much easier.

Current one forces you to sit in a certain way to get a clear view, sit 1cm differently and some part of the dash is blocked by the wheel...

Oh, that is nice! The temp gauge is one of few things I actually miss on our F20.

I think that is from a 3 series and the 1er and 2er still have the smaller display with only the 2 larger dials and no oil temp and fuel gauge.

I tend to be okay with it. I am tall with long legs so have the wheel pulled towards me away from the dash and that makes it easy to see through to the cluster behind. But ultimately I just like the look of the wheel I have to this new one.

If you buy a M235i you don't get oil temp either. Same small display there and it's a brand new model.

I've been driving around in a 420d with this wheel and don't like it as much as the one in my M135i. The angle of the radio volume buttons mean I have to move my thumb notability more to operate them. They don't fall naturally.

Apparently you are not supposed to use your thumbs...

I've got the new steering wheel on my f30 m-sport, and the old style on my wife's f20 and the new style is soo much nicer to live with and much more expensive looking!
So much so that I've just ordered a new f20 for my wife with the new spec wheel and the m sport plus pack, as have that on my f30 and I'm in love with the brakes and xenons. Also managed 4.5k discount on a 118d m-sport.

I retrofitted the new wheel on my M135i.

The new wheel looks much better, but you can tell its a much cheaper construction with hard plastic etc and the buttons are a bit more awkward to reach. But it looks great!

That seems to be the general direction of BMW, at least on cars available to mortal humans.

F20/F30 has an overall cheaper look and feeling in many aspect than its predecessors. Even if you opt for those luxury accessories its a cheaper look/feel interior wise. Thats my opinion at least coming from an e92 2010.

I think the F20 feels like a step up quality wise from the E87, and the early E90 felt like a step down compared to E46.

You might be right. My experiance is only from E92 to F30/F20.

My first F20 was an 118d Urban 2012, lots of options. After about 2 years I had enough, the tractor sound and it srsly felt like a bucket on 4 wheels. When you close the door it sounded like closing the door of a crap Nissan Micra or something.

Got my 116i M-sport 2014 and it feels like the quality is waaaay better. Petrol version is much quieter and smoother. Build quality feels better, no strange clanking noise when closing the door but it feels really solid. M-sport must have some extra isolation around the doors especially. I can´t say if it entirely due to M-sport or that they "fixed" some issues from the original 2012 model.

Or maybe because I am partial to the M-sport package, had it on two of my E92´s.

Next car will be an F30 m-sport, but that wont be for another 2-3 years. By that time there will hopefully be a facelift done. F30 should feel more luxurious than F20, but with same options both cars feel identical on the interior at least. Only more spacious.

Hey all, first post, greetings!

I was actually just thinking the other day of changing the steering wheel on my recently purchased F20, as i sometimes get sweaty hands which i assume is due to the leather?

Has anyone changed to the Alcantara version? Would that help my issue?

Cheers for advice.
